Tobacco Consumption Fines at Guna District Hospital

A total of Rs 1,050 was levied as a fine on 11 individuals for violating hygiene standards by consuming tobacco within the Guna District Hospital premises. This action was carried out under the National Tobacco Control Program, following directives from Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and guidance from Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajkumar Rishishwar.

The primary objective of this campaign was to curb smoking and the use of tobacco products within the hospital complex, thereby ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff. Clear signage warning against tobacco consumption in public places within the hospital premises and a fine of Rs 200 for violations have been prominently displayed.

The administration has shown strictness against individuals who disregarded these rules. Deputy Collector Mahima Chaudhary advised the concerned individuals to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital premises and refrain from consuming tobacco in public areas. She emphasized that tobacco use in public health institutions like hospitals is not only a violation of rules but also poses a serious threat to the health of others.

Promoting Tobacco Cessation

Vinita Soni, the nodal officer for the National Tobacco Control Program, urged tobacco users to quit their habit. She encouraged them to avail the counseling and treatment services available at the tobacco de-addiction center. Here, individuals struggling with tobacco addiction are provided with assistance by expert doctors and counselors, including behavioral therapy and necessary medication.

The administrative action was successfully supported by Dr. Suraj Singh, Dr. Arun Prakash Dhakad, Rekha Sharma, Shailendra Singh, Murari Lal, Sadiq Khan, Adil Khan, and Monu Jatav. Together, they ensured the campaign proceeded smoothly and that appropriate action was taken against those who violated the rules.

The primary goal of the hospital administration is to make the institution completely tobacco-free and clean, providing patients with a better and healthier environment. This initiative is a significant effort towards promoting public health and reducing the spread of tobacco-related diseases.
