Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Damoh
A special campaign is underway in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh to enhance road safety awareness. As part of this initiative, a large workshop was organized at the Government EFA JP B Kanya Higher Secondary School.
Approximately 1500 schoolgirls were educated on important road safety rules and life-saving measures. This event is a component of a ten-day special road safety campaign directed by the Police Transport and Research Institute, Bhopal.
Guidance and Essential Safety Measures
The program was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Anand Kaladgi. During the workshop, Traffic Station In-charge Dalbir Singh Marko emphasized the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts for the students.
He clarified that these are not merely tools to prevent traffic violations but invaluable shields that protect lives. Using ISI-marked helmets for two-wheeler riders and seat belts in four-wheelers is critically important.
Importance of 'Golden Hour' and Government Schemes
The workshop also informed students about the government's public welfare schemes. They learned that individuals severely injured in road accidents are eligible for cashless treatment up to INR 1.5 lakh under the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
Special emphasis was placed on the significance of the first sixty minutes after an accident, known as the 'Golden Hour'. It was explained that reaching an injured person to the hospital in this crucial period can save their life.
'Rah-Veer' Scheme and Civic Responsibility
Additionally, the 'Rah-Veer' scheme was mentioned, which rewards and encourages citizens who assist victims of road accidents. The objective of these schemes is to ensure immediate aid to those affected and foster the role of responsible citizens in society.
Pledge for a Safer Future
At the conclusion of the workshop, all staff members and attending students took a pledge to fully adhere to traffic rules and to educate their families and other members of society about road safety. The primary aim of this event was to bring about a positive behavioral change among the youth and inspire them to stay safe on the roads, thereby reducing road accidents.
