Seminar Highlights Role of Future Teachers in Nation Building
Naugaon, October 7, 2026 – A special seminar held at the District Education and Training Institute in Naugaon provided crucial guidance to future teachers on the true meaning of education and their role in societal development.
The seminar stressed that the paramount goal of education is not merely imparting academic knowledge, but fostering character development, nurturing values, and integrating humaneness into life.
Character Over Credentials
In his address, the Institute's Principal, Shri R.K. Verma, stated that a person's true identity is defined not by their position, prestige, or wealth, but by their values, behaviour, and spirit of service.
He clarified the distinction between legal punishment and social ostracism, explaining that legal penalties are temporary and can be forgotten. However, social stigma and neglect leave a deep, lifelong negative impact on an individual's psyche, leading to mental anguish. Therefore, prioritizing values in the education system is imperative.
The Importance of Moral Values and Nation Building
Shri Verma urged teachers to enrich students not only with academic knowledge but also with qualities like morality, discipline, and sensitivity.
Using the example of a democratic system, he explained that while courts determine punishment for crimes, social neglect affects an individual's inner conscience. Social activist Santosh Gangele Karmayogi also shared his thoughts, inspiring students to set goals and pursue them with determination.
Gangele stated that education's sole purpose should not be employment, but the creation of a superior citizen who understands their responsibilities towards their family, society, and nation. He advocated for progress in life with honesty and self-confidence.
The Need for Moral Education Today
Teachers and students present at the seminar found the speakers' views highly relevant and guiding for the present times. They unanimously emphasized that moral education is the greatest need of the hour, capable of steering youth in the right direction.
At the conclusion of the program, the speakers called upon all participants to move forward with a resolve for national service.
