Woman Alleges Police Brutality and Theft

In a grave accusation against law enforcement, a woman from Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh has sought justice, claiming police brutality and theft. Mamta, a resident of Kamlapur, alleges that police from the Hathgaon police station not only vandalized her home but also assaulted her and looted lakhs of rupees in cash and jewelry.

Mamta has filed a written complaint with the Superintendent of Police in Fatehpur regarding the incident. According to the victim, on the evening of October 16, approximately 10-12 police personnel, led by Station House Officer Arun Chaturvedi, arrived at her house without any female constables. They accused Mamta's husband, Dharmendra, of possessing marijuana and ransacked the entire house under the guise of a search, even uprooting the CCTV cameras installed within the premises.

Questions Raised Over Police Conduct

The following day, October 17, Mamta submitted a detailed written complaint to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik. She claims that after her complaint was registered, the Station House Officer, angered by the action, raided her house again on the night of October 18 with a large contingent of police. This time, the police allegedly damaged household items including the refrigerator and a grinding machine.

Furthermore, Mamta alleges that the police broke open an almirah and looted ₹2 lakh in cash along with jewelry valued at approximately ₹8 lakh. When she protested, Mamta claims she was assaulted and threatened with severe consequences if she filed another complaint. The victim, who recently gave birth ten days ago, is reportedly in fear along with her three daughters.

Victim's Plight and Police Denial

Mamta has appealed to the Superintendent of Police for an impartial investigation and strict action against the Station House Officer and his team. Conversely, Hathgaon Station House Officer Arun Chaturvedi has refuted all allegations made by the woman, terming them baseless. He stated that Dharmendra, the woman's husband, has multiple prior cases registered against him for drug trafficking, and the police action was a lawful raid in connection with these ongoing investigations.

This entire matter is now raising serious questions about human rights violations and police operational procedures.
