Court Delivers Death Sentence in Sensational Murder Case
In a landmark judgment, the Additional District and Sessions Judge's court in Meerut has handed down the death penalty to Raviya and her lover Amardeep. They were found guilty of the murder of Amit Kashyap and the destruction of evidence in the much-publicized case from Akbarpur Sadat village, Bahsuma police station area.
The sensational incident first came to light on April 13, 2025, when Amit Kashyap's body was discovered on his bed. Initial observations noted snakebite marks on his body, with a live cobra found pressed beneath him. At the time, his wife, Raviya, claimed the death was due to a snakebite.
Autopsy Report Reveals Homicide, Unraveling the Conspiracy
However, the post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was strangulation, a finding that dramatically shifted the course of the investigation. Subsequent police inquiries confirmed that Amit's death was indeed a result of being strangled, orchestrated by his wife, Raviya, and her lover, Amardeep.
The motive behind the conspiracy was their illicit affair; Amit was seen as an obstacle to their relationship. To eliminate him, they meticulously planned his murder. Further investigation uncovered that Amardeep had purchased a cobra for ₹1,000 from a snake charmer to stage the scene as a snakebite death.
Evidence and Testimony Lead to Conviction
Following the murder, the snake was placed near Amit's body on the bed to create the illusion of a fatal snakebite. During the investigation, significant evidence emerged, including records of 51 phone calls between Raviya and Amardeep within a 24-hour period, pointing towards their intimate relationship and complicity in the plot.
Monu Kashyap, Amit's brother, had filed the first information report (FIR) in this case on April 16, 2025. During the trial, the prosecution presented a total of 12 witnesses, including doctors, the snake charmer from whom the snake was purchased, and the police officers who investigated the crime.
Justice Served: Death Penalty for the Guilty Duo
After a thorough deliberation on all the evidence, witness testimonies, and scientific findings, the court presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Jayveer Singh Nagar pronounced the death sentence for Raviya and Amardeep. The victim Amit's mother, Munesh Devi, had also appealed to the court for the harshest possible punishment for the culprits, a plea that the court has now granted, ensuring justice.
