Municipal Council Faces Scrutiny Over Dhanteras Action

Aaron, November 6, 2026 – An action by the Aaron Municipal Council on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras has cast a serious shadow over the local administration's functioning. A municipal sanitation worker was seen clearing away the meager roadside stall of a young boy who was selling diyas to help his family financially.

The incident saw the child's items unceremoniously thrown onto the street, despite his tearful pleas. The act has deeply angered local citizens who were celebrating the festival, questioning why the child wasn't approached with more sensitivity. Many believe that if encroachment was an issue, the child could have been reasoned with or given time to organize his stall.

Questions Mount for Chief Municipal Officer

This event further fuels existing concerns about disorder in the town under the tenure of Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Dinesh Soni. Issues such as inadequate cleanliness and traffic congestion on main roads have already been points of public discussion.

Despite designated areas being allocated for handcart vendors, the traffic situation has not seen the expected improvement. The lack of efficient management is a growing concern for residents navigating the town.

Action Taken, Compensation Provided

Following the viral spread of the incident's video on social media, CMO Dinesh Soni took cognizance of the matter. In response, the CMO ordered immediate action, including a deduction of two days' salary from the responsible sanitation employee. This deducted amount was then provided as compensation to the distressed child.

However, this action has also drawn criticism from locals, who question whether a minor penalty like salary deduction is sufficient for such inhumane behavior on a festive day. Citizens expressed their expectation that the administration should uphold rules while also demonstrating compassion and empathy.
