Injury-Hit Team India Adds Anshul Kamboj Ahead of Must-Win 4th Test vs England in Manchester

Team India has suffered multiple setbacks ahead of the crucial 4th Test against England, set to begin on July 23, 2025, at Old Trafford, Manchester. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and pacer Arshdeep Singh have been ruled out due to injuries, leaving the visitors with limited options as they fight to stay alive in the five-match series, which they currently trail 1-2.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a statement that Nitish Kumar Reddy, suffering from a left knee injury, will miss the remaining two Tests and has flown back home. Arshdeep Singh, who injured his left thumb during a net session in Beckenham, will miss at least the Manchester Test, with the BCCI medical team keeping a close watch on his recovery.

Anshul Kamboj Added to Squad

In response to the growing injury list, the BCCI has added Anshul Kamboj, a promising pacer from Chennai Super Kings, to the Test squad. The uncapped fast bowler has already linked up with the team in Manchester and could be in contention to make his debut if the management decides to rotate its pace unit.

Bumrah-Akash Deep Dilemma

There are fitness concerns over Akash Deep, but the pacer has still been retained in the squad for the 4th Test. Speculation continues over whether Jasprit Bumrah will be rested to manage his workload, especially with the series on the line. If rested, India may field a less-experienced pace attack, possibly giving Kamboj or Akash Deep an opportunity.

Kuldeep Yadav in Contention

Despite strong calls for Kuldeep Yadav’s inclusion in the playing XI, the left-arm wrist-spinner has not featured in the series yet. With the Manchester pitch often assisting spin, and with India needing a win, Kuldeep may finally get his chance.
