Popular Malayalam actor and television presenter Rajesh Keshav, fondly known as RK, is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest during a live event in Kochi on Sunday night.
The 49-year-old collapsed on stage in the final moments of the programme, shocking the audience. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors performed an emergency angioplasty. Hospital sources confirmed that RK is currently in the intensive care unit on life support, relying on a ventilator.
Filmmaker Prathap Jayalakshmi, who witnessed the incident, urged for prayers and support on social media:
“Our beloved Rajesh, the man who once set every stage ablaze with life, now lies silent, breathing only with the help of a machine. On Sunday night, in the middle of the cheers and lights, fate pulled him down… What he needs now is not medicine alone, but the unstoppable power of our love and prayers.”
A household name in Kerala, Rajesh rose to fame as a television anchor, becoming one of the most recognizable faces on Malayalam television. He hosted several popular reality and talk shows and also made his mark in Malayalam cinema with memorable supporting roles.
Since the news broke, social media has been inundated with messages of hope, prayers, and solidarity from fans, colleagues, and fellow celebrities across the film and television industry.
