Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has given fans a concrete update on Krrish 4, saying the project will begin once final budgeting is in place and confirming a mid-2026 start to filming — with an expected release in 2027. The announcement came as Roshan marked his 76th birthday and spoke to Bollywood Hungama about the movie’s progress.
Roshan said the script was completed quickly, but the film’s scale meant the budget required careful deliberation. “Now that we have an idea of the definite budget required for this film, we’ll be starting the film,” he said, reassuring fans that pre-production is already in full swing and that exhaustive groundwork is being done before cameras roll.
The upcoming instalment will see Hrithik Roshan return as the titular superhero Krrish and make his directorial debut on the franchise. According to Roshan, the shooting schedule is locked for mid-2026 and is expected to continue into late 2026, which lines up with the team’s plan to release the film in 2027 (ending speculation about a 2028 delay).
A brief franchise recap: Krrish (2006) established Hrithik Roshan as Bollywood’s iconic superhero, featuring Priyanka Chopra, Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah. The story followed Krishna Mehra, who inherits superpowers from his father Rohit Mehra and becomes Krrish to battle evil forces. The series continued with Krrish 3 in 2013, and Krrish 4 was officially announced in April 2025.
With scripting locked, budgets settled and pre-production underway, the film is now moving from planning into execution — with high expectations from audiences for a visually ambitious follow-up to one of India’s best-known superhero franchises.
