FIR Filed Against Influencer Orry, Seven Others for Consuming Alcohol in Katra

Katra, Jammu and Kashmir – Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, and seven others have been booked by police for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. The police registered an FIR (No. 72/25) on March 15, citing violation of strict religious norms in the region.

The accused include Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina. According to a police spokesman, the group consumed alcohol in the hotel premises despite being informed that alcohol and non-vegetarian food are strictly prohibited in the vicinity of the sacred site.

Taking swift action, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh directed officials to track and apprehend the individuals involved, emphasizing that acts of consuming alcohol or drugs at religious places would not be tolerated. “A message has been made clear that any act that disrespects the faith and sentiments of the people will be dealt with strictly,” he stated.

A special police team under the supervision of SP Katra, SDPO Katra, and SHO Katra was tasked with handling the case. SSP Reasi further asserted that those who violate the law and disturb peace, especially through substance use, will face strict consequences.

The incident has sparked fresh debate over liquor consumption in Jammu and Kashmir, where demands for a complete ban are growing. In the ongoing Budget Session of the J&K Assembly, three MLAs, including two from the opposition and one from the ruling National Conference, have moved a Private Members Bill seeking a complete prohibition on liquor sale and consumption in the Union Territory.
