DIY Crispy Air Fryer Potato Chips

🥔 Ingredients

  • 1 large potato (Russets work best)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

🧰 Tools & Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Tongs
  • Paper towels or a clean kitchen towel
  • Mandoline slicer or sharp knife

🔪 Step 1: Slice the Potatoes

  1. Rinse and dry the potato thoroughly.
  2. Slice the potato into thin rounds, about 1/8″ to 1/16″ thick, using a mandoline slicer or a knife. Keep the slices as uniform as possible for even cooking.
  3. Place the slices in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes, changing the water halfway through. This helps remove excess starch for crispier chips.

🧂 Step 2: Dry and Season

  1. Drain the soaked potato slices and lay them on paper towels or a kitchen towel.
  2. Pat them completely dry.
  3. Lightly coat the slices with olive oil and sprinkle salt to taste. You can do this in a bowl or directly on the tray by tossing them gently.

🌬️ Step 3: Air Fry the Chips

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (162°C).
  2. Arrange the slices in a single layer in the fryer basket. Avoid overlapping.
  3. Cook for 10 to 14 minutes, flipping the chips halfway through (around the 5–7 minute mark) to ensure even crisping.
  4. Keep a close eye on them, especially near the end, as thinner slices may brown faster.
  5. Once golden and crisp, transfer to a paper towel or wire rack to cool.

Optional: Add extra seasoning like pepper, paprika, or garlic powder while the chips are still warm.

🎉 Enjoy!
