Major Operations Against Illicit Liquor in Alirajpur

Continuing its stringent crackdown on the manufacturing, storage, transportation, and smuggling of illicit liquor, Madhya Pradesh Police has carried out two significant operations in the Alirajpur district. These campaigns resulted in the seizure of a total of 1,913 cases and 16,712 bulk liters of illegal Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).

Additionally, a cement container and a truck, used in the liquor smuggling operations, were impounded. The total value of the seized assets in these operations is estimated at approximately ₹2 crore 17 lakh. This major action was executed by police teams from Chandpur Police Station and Udaigarh Police Station under the direction of Superintendent of Police, Shri Raghuwansh Singh Bhadauria, demonstrating a well-planned and effective campaign against the illicit liquor trade in the state.

Massive Liquor Recovery from Cement Container

Chandpur Police Station received a tip-off from an informant indicating that a large quantity of illicit liquor was being transported via a cement container with Rajasthan registration. Acting on this information, the police team maintained vigilance on the Khandwa-Baroda highway and intercepted the suspicious vehicle. A thorough search of the container revealed a substantial number of illicit liquor cases.

The police seized 1,426 cases and 12,505 bulk liters of illegal liquor in this operation. The total value of assets seized, including the container, in this single campaign exceeded approximately ₹1 crore 62 lakh. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the illicit liquor was sourced from the Narwana region near the Punjab-Haryana border and was being transported through various cities in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Dausa, Kota, Chittorgarh, and passing through Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Mangod, Manawar, and Kukshi in Madhya Pradesh, before heading to Baroda in Gujarat.

The police have arrested one accused from Gram Bamarla, Tehsil Sedwa, District Barmer, Rajasthan. Authorities are now conducting detailed investigations into the source of this illicit liquor, other individuals involved in its transportation, and its network in Gujarat.

Large Haul of Liquor Also Seized from Truck

In a related development, Udaigarh Police Station also took action based on confidential information. Following the informant's tip, the police attempted to intercept a truck coming from the direction of Gram Talawad. However, upon spotting the police, the truck driver managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle near the pond in Gram Jawania.

Police immediately searched the truck and discovered illicit liquor cases concealed within a specially constructed basement. In this operation, the police seized a total of 487 cases and 4,207 bulk liters of illegal liquor from the truck. The total value of assets seized in this campaign, including the truck, was estimated at over approximately ₹54 lakh 97 thousand.

The Madhya Pradesh Police is continuously taking effective steps across the state to curb the manufacturing, storage, transportation, and smuggling of illicit liquor. To combat cases of inter-state liquor transportation, the police have strengthened their intelligence network, intensified vehicle checking campaigns, and are emphasizing more effective on-ground surveillance to completely halt such illicit activities.
