Full Strike by Contract Health Workers Demanding Regularization

Bareilly | October 10, 2026: Contract employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Bareilly observed a complete work boycott on Saturday, protesting their various pending demands. Hundreds of employees participated in the demonstration held at the Chief Medical Officer's office, urging the government for a swift resolution to their issues.

The movement received significant support from other employee organizations in the district, leading to a noticeable impact on health services. Led by the Joint National Health Mission Contract Employees Union, the employees primarily raised the demand for their regularization.

Key Demands and Support

Alongside regularization, they are advocating for:

  • Equal pay for equal work.
  • Grade pay equivalent to regular employees.
  • Mandatory implementation of social security benefits like dearness allowance, health insurance, and EPF.
  • Adjustment of outsourcing personnel into the district health committee.

Awaiting Government Response

During the protest, Shyam Singh, District President of the Joint National Health Mission Contract Employees Union, addressed the gathering. Avinash Tripathi, the District General Secretary, appealed to the present employees to maintain active participation in the ongoing movement.

Dr. Ashish Gupta, State General Secretary of the Ayush Medical Association Uttar Pradesh, detailed the employees' problems from the stage and urged the government and administration to consider these demands immediately.

Prominent figures present included Dr. Harjinder Singh, State Vice President, and Dr. Vishwa Deepak Pandey, Divisional President, of the Joint National Health Mission Contract Employees Union. Speakers unanimously stated that the struggle would continue until the government makes a positive decision on their demands.

Representatives from various employee organizations also visited the protest site to demonstrate solidarity with the contract workers' movement and express their support.
