Fertiliser Stockpile Untouched Amidst Farmer Distress

In the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, farmers are encountering significant difficulties in obtaining fertiliser, despite a stockpile of three hundred bags at the Ajnar Cooperative Society. The delay in the token distribution process has left local farmers without essential supplies, exacerbating concerns for those preparing to sow their Rabi crops.

Delayed Distribution Fuels Farmer Anxiety

According to society sources, the society received a total of five hundred and fifty bags of fertiliser on October 2nd and 3rd, 2026, following the end of a strike by secretaries. While two hundred and fifty bags have already been distributed, the remaining three hundred bags remain in the society's warehouse.

Administrative Lapses Hamper Supply Chain

Brijendra Chandel, an official from the supply department, confirmed the adequate fertiliser reserves. However, he stated that distribution is not possible without tokens, and efforts to resolve this issue are underway, though a lack of administrative coordination is apparent.

Waiting Game for Farmers as Planting Season Looms

Lekhpal Shivkaran Kushwaha reported that the society secretary is awaiting another truckload of fertiliser. The plan is to distribute tokens to all farmers and provide fertiliser simultaneously once the new consignment arrives. This has brought the entire distribution system to a halt, forcing farmers into a lengthy wait.

Concerns Mount Over Crop Yield

Farmers express growing concern as the window for Rabi crop sowing rapidly narrows. The unavailability of fertiliser on time could adversely impact crop yields, highlighting administrative apathy and a lack of planning that is disproportionately affecting ordinary farmers.
