Comprehensive Awareness Campaign for Cleanliness and Waste Management
As part of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada-2026' organized by Indian Railways, the Izatnagar Division of Northeast Railway is conducting a comprehensive awareness campaign focused on cleanliness and effective waste management. This fortnight-long event, running from October 1 to October 15, aims to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of railway stations, platforms, premises, and residential colonies.
The initiative is being undertaken under the capable guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Ms. Veena Sinha. In a key aspect of this campaign, Assistant Divisional Commercial Manager Zeenat Qamar Ansari engaged directly with passengers at Izatnagar Railway Station on Tuesday. She appealed to passengers for their active cooperation in keeping the station premises clean.
Passenger Feedback and Encouragement for Hygiene
During the interaction, valuable suggestions were also gathered from passengers to further improve the railway administration's arrangements. Passengers were encouraged to separate dry and wet waste into designated bins and to utilize dustbins appropriately. The railway administration emphasizes that the participation of every passenger is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness of railway stations.
Training for Railway Staff and Vendors on Waste Management
In another significant phase of the awareness campaign, railway employees, onboard housekeeping staff, pantry car personnel, and station vendors are receiving training on rules and procedures related to solid waste management. The primary goal of this training is to ensure the proper segregation and effective disposal of waste.
Additionally, railway employees and their families residing in railway colonies are being educated on the collection and management of household waste. The railway administration aims to foster a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness among the general public and railway personnel through the 'Swachhta Pakhwada'.
Building a Clean Railway Through Public Participation
This campaign is instrumental in creating a clean, beautiful, and healthy railway environment, while also serving as a significant step towards strengthening public participation. The divisional administration is committed to making these good cleanliness habits an integral part of people's daily lives, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the current waste management system.
