Ujjwala Scheme Subsidy Rollout in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is now providing gas cylinder refill subsidies to more than 1.89 crore eligible families under the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Yojana. The ambitious scheme was formally launched in Lucknow by the Chief Minister, with related programs held across the state.
A program organized at the Sebayojan Auditorium in Mahoba showcased the scheme's benefits for local beneficiaries. The event was graced by Manohar Lal Kori, the प्रभारी मंत्री (in-charge minister) for Mahoba and Minister of State for Labour and Employment of the Uttar Pradesh Government, as the chief guest. He honored eligible beneficiaries by distributing symbolic subsidy checks.
Objective and Impact of the Scheme
In his address, Minister Kori emphasized that the primary objective of the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Yojana is to provide clean fuel to poor and needy families. He highlighted that this subsidy will offer significant financial relief to eligible families, especially during auspicious occasions like Diwali, enabling them to easily refill their cooking gas cylinders.
Direct Benefit Transfer for Subsidy
During the launch event, it was clarified that the designated incentive amount as subsidy is being transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This process aims to ensure that the financial aid reaches the intended recipients without any intermediaries, offering both transparency and convenience.
The launch program was attended by various public representatives, senior administrative officials of the district, and hundreds of beneficiaries. This initiative is seen as an effective step towards improving the living standards of economically weaker sections in the state and promoting the use of clean energy. The scheme will also contribute to achieving the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
