Mumbai Police has registered a fresh FIR against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, YouTuber Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, and others over controversial remarks made during the India’s Got Latent roast show. The complaint, filed by Sanmati Pandey, alleges that the social media influencers insulted religious beliefs and degraded the Indian family system.
Allahbadia’s controversial remark, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” has sparked outrage, with the complainant arguing that it was an attack on marriage as a religious rite. Apoorva Mukhija’s comment on Arunachal Pradesh’s food habits has also been flagged for endangering communal harmony.
With Assam Police launching a parallel investigation and the National Commission for Women summoning the accused for a hearing on February 17, the controversy continues to escalate. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has also filed a case under the IT Act, with notices reportedly being sent to 30 individuals involved in the show.
Meanwhile, Allahbadia has issued a public apology, admitting to a lapse in judgment and acknowledging that his remark was inappropriate. However, the backlash continues, with political figures raising concerns in Parliament and demanding stricter content regulation on OTT platforms.
