Two Army Personnel, Including Captain, Killed in IED Blast Near LoC in Akhnoor

Two Indian Army personnel, including Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi, lost their lives, and another soldier was injured when suspected terrorists triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector, Jammu, on Tuesday.

The blast occurred around 3:50 PM near a forward post in Bhattal area while troops were on patrol duty. The injured personnel were rushed to a hospital, where two of them succumbed to their injuries, while the third soldier is reported to be out of danger.

This marks the third cross-border terrorist incident in Jammu in the past four days. The attack came just a day after Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, reviewed hostile activities along the LoC in Rajouri.

The Army’s Northern Command and White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers. “White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers,” the Corps posted on X.

Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, GOC-in-Chief of the Northern Command, also honored the sacrifices of Capt. Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh, vowing to continue operations against terrorist threats. Search operations in the area are ongoing.
