Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon to Open NIFFA 2025, Celebrating Indian Cinema in Australia

Reema Kagti’s directorial Superboys of Malegaon is set to open the National Indian Film Festival of Australia (NIFFA) 2025. The festival, backed by the Indian High Commission in Australia, consulates of Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth, along with NFDC, SBS Australia, and ICCR, aims to showcase the diversity of Indian cinema beyond Bollywood.

NIFFA 2025 will feature over 35 world and Australian premieres across 16 languages, with seven red carpets in seven cities. Marking a significant milestone for Indian films in Australia, the festival will run from February 13 to March 2, 2025, across Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Canberra.

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani expressed his excitement, stating, “Excel Entertainment has a long-standing relationship with Australia, beginning with Dil Chahta Hai. We are thrilled that Superboys of Malegaon has been so warmly received, with multiple red carpet events nationwide. It’s an incredible honor, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this inspiring story.”

The film, inspired by a true story, follows the journey of Nasir Shaikh, an aspiring filmmaker from Malegaon who dreams of making movies despite many challenges. Starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora, Superboys of Malegaon promises to be a heartwarming tribute to the power of dreams and perseverance.
