His vehicle was stopped, and after negotiations, he was detained and evacuated from the spot in a police vehicle.

, along with other senior party leaders, was detained while attempting to join the protest.
Tamilisai Soundararajan stepped out of her house to attend the gherao to be held at the Tasmac office in Egmore.
The police team, led by the deputy commissioner of Police Snehapriya and officials, who were waiting outside her house from 7am onwards, prevented her from leaving her house and escorted Tamilisai to the police vehicle.
Earlier, she argued that she had the liberty to leave her house to meet the agitators. She demanded that the police should treat her on par with the BJP workers.
Meanwhile, BJP state deputy president Karu Nagarajan was arrested in front of his house too. The city police were assigned in front of the residences of the BJP state office-bearers and district office-bearers from 7 am onwards, and they blocked their houses.
