Actor Jacqueline Fernandez is mourning the loss of her mother, Kim Fernandez, who passed away on Sunday in Mumbai after being hospitalised for several weeks. Kim had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital following a heart stroke, and was recovering in the ICU until her health deteriorated.
Jacqueline had been frequently spotted visiting her mother during this time, choosing to stay close to her family and even skipping her IPL performance in Guwahati last month to be by her mother’s side.
Her father, Elroy Fernandez, was also seen outside the hospital in recent days. The news of Kim’s passing was confirmed by Jacqueline’s team on Sunday.
In a past interview with India TV, Jacqueline had described her mother as her “inspiration”, saying:
“My mom always supported me. I miss her a lot. I live here alone without my parents. There are these two people who have been so strong and they have been such an inspiration for me which always keeps me going.”
Kim Fernandez, of Malaysian and Canadian descent, met Elroy, a Sri Lankan, in the 1980s while working as an air hostess. Jacqueline, born in Manama, Bahrain, grew up in a multicultural household and often spoke fondly about her close bond with her parents.
Condolences are pouring in from fans and industry colleagues as Jacqueline grieves this heartbreaking loss.
