Operation Sindoor Director Apologizes for Timing of Film Announcement Amid Real-Life Tragedy

Director Uttam Maheshwari has issued a public apology following backlash over the timing of the announcement of his upcoming film Operation Sindoor, which is inspired by India’s recent military retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. The film’s reveal, made just days after the real-life events, sparked criticism from many for being insensitive and premature, given the ongoing national mourning.

In a heartfelt social media statement, Maheshwari addressed the criticism:

“My sincere apologies for recently announcing a film based on Operation Sindoor, inspired by the recent heroic efforts of our Indian Armed Forces. The intent was never to hurt or provoke anyone’s sentiments.”

Maheshwari explained his motivation stemmed from admiration for the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, not from any desire for controversy or commercial gain.

“This is not just a film, it’s an emotion of the entire nation and a social image of the country globally,” he wrote, acknowledging that the timing and sensitivity of the situation may have caused discomfort. “For that, I deeply regret.”

He also extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and paid tribute to the martyrs and their families:

“Our love and prayers will always be with the families of the martyrs as well as the brave warriors who are fighting on the border day and night to give us a new morning.”

Operation Sindoor is being produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer. The film’s cast has not yet been revealed, and it’s unclear whether the project will move forward as originally planned or undergo changes in response to the public reaction.
