After the blockbuster success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan is set to team up once again with director Siddharth Anand for an action-packed spectacle titled King. The film has entered pre-production and is targeting a shoot start between May 18 and 20 in Mumbai.
Alongside Khan, the stellar ensemble includes Deepika Padukone—reprising their celebrated on-screen pairing—Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, and newcomer Abhay Verma in pivotal roles. In a major casting update, veteran star Anil Kapoor will portray Shah Rukh’s handler and mentor, marking another mentor-protégé collaboration after Kapoor’s role in Fighter.
The filmmakers plan a 100-day shoot spanning India and Europe, promising globe-trotting backdrops and meticulously choreographed action set-pieces. According to insiders, the script has been tailored for “modern theatrical sensibilities,” with King’s narrative showcasing Shah Rukh as a “raw, rooted assassin” guided by Kapoor’s character.
Romantic chemistry between Shah Rukh and Deepika is expected to add emotional depth to the adrenaline-fuelled plot, while Suhana Khan’s significant role marks her bold entry into mainstream Hindi cinema. Sachin–Jigar will compose the songs, complemented by Anirudh’s background score.
Slated for release between October and December 2026, King is already one of Bollywood’s most eagerly anticipated action dramas, promising a blend of blockbuster glamour and gritty thrills.
