After months of speculation and delays, Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated action thriller Don 3 is finally set to begin shooting in September 2025. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the third installment in the iconic franchise promises to bring a fresh wave of high-octane action and drama, with Vikrant Massey locked in to play the main antagonist.
According to a News18 report, Vikrant Massey will be part of the first schedule, which kicks off this September. This marks a notable shift for Massey, known for his grounded, emotional performances in heartland cinema. In Don 3, he will reportedly sport a completely new and unexpected look, adding a fresh dynamic to his onscreen persona.
Delays and Production Updates
The film’s production had faced multiple delays, primarily due to Farhan Akhtar’s work on his military-action drama 120 Bahadur and Ranveer Singh’s ongoing shoot for the action-packed film Dhurandhar. With both commitments nearing completion, Don 3 is finally back on track.
The film is set to feature stylish action set pieces, including intense bike chases between Ranveer Singh’s new-age Don and Vikrant Massey’s villainous character.
Casting Status and Female Lead Speculations
While Ranveer Singh and Vikrant Massey are officially confirmed, the female lead remains uncertain. Although Kiara Advani was initially announced, Sharvari Wagh and Kriti Sanon have also emerged as potential contenders. The makers have yet to issue a formal announcement regarding the final cast.
Interestingly, this project will mark a reunion for Ranveer and Vikrant, who previously worked together in Lootera and Dil Dhadakne Do, though this will be their first time facing off as adversaries.
Vikrant Massey’s Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Vikrant Massey is also signed on for Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. However, the start of that project is now expected to be pushed to 2026, as Vikrant’s schedule will be tied up with Don 3 until the end of 2025. Earlier reports suggested that if Don 3 had been delayed further, Massey would have begun shooting Dostana 2 as early as September 2025.
