PM Modi Begins Two-Day Gujarat Visit; Inaugurates Projects Worth ₹82,000 Crore, Flags Off New Trains

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin his two-day visit to his home state Gujarat on Monday, marking his first tour of the state following Operation Sindoor. During the visit, he will inaugurate a series of major development projects collectively worth over ₹82,000 crore.

One of the key highlights of the visit will be the launch of two new train services, including the Sabarmati–Veraval Vande Bharat Express and the Valsad–Dahod Express. PM Modi will inaugurate these via video conferencing from Dahod, officials confirmed.

According to Dilip Kumar, Executive Director (Information and Publicity), Railway Board, the Sabarmati–Veraval Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week (excluding Thursdays) and will connect Sabarmati to Veraval, a town near the iconic Somnath Temple. With eight coaches, the train is expected to significantly boost travel for pilgrims and tourists visiting the pilgrimage site.

The second service, the Valsad–Dahod Express, will run daily between the two cities and cover a distance of 346 kilometers. Train no. 19011 will run from Valsad to Dahod and train no. 19012 in the reverse direction. The train will have 17 coaches and stop at 12 intermediate stations including Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, and Godhra, enhancing connectivity across southern and central Gujarat.

The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Dahod, where he will inaugurate a state-of-the-art Loco Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop established at a cost of over ₹21,000 crore under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He will also flag off an electric locomotive from the facility.

In addition, he will address a public gathering in Kharod, Dahod, and lay the foundation stone for railway and infrastructure projects worth ₹24,000 crore.

Later, the Prime Minister will travel to Bhuj, where he is scheduled to launch additional development initiatives totaling over ₹53,400 crore. PM Modi will also address public rallies at both Dahod and Bhuj, underlining the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and regional progress in Gujarat.
