Audience Reviews Pour in for Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par: “Emotional, Sensitive, and Beautifully Made”

Ahead of its theatrical release, Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par was screened for a select audience — and the first reactions are already generating strong buzz. Aamir himself was present at the venue to witness the audience’s response, engaging in heartfelt conversations post-screening.

A video from the screening, which surfaced on Reddit, captures the emotional aftermath of the film. One audience member praised the film’s sensitivity, saying, “You looked after many aspects of sensitivity. Kudos to the writer, director, and the dialogues.” Aamir humbly responded, “It’s an important issue for all of us.”

Another viewer drew parallels to Taare Zameen Par, Aamir’s 2007 cult classic. “After Taare Zameen Par, a very good film has come to theatres after a big gap. There have been movies that came after that, but this will change perceptions,” they said. A representative from Muskan Foundation, an NGO for differently abled children, also commended the film, appreciating how well the message was portrayed: “Very well kept and captured messages. I really appreciate it.”

One particular moment that touched many was the emotional twist towards the end. “The last twist was also great. You made us cry at that point. Beautifully made film,” said another viewer.

Aamir spent time interacting with the audience, discussing his experience working on the film. He spoke about how everyone, including the specially-abled cast members, had a great time on set. He also emphasized that despite common creative disagreements in filmmaking, there was no such conflict during this project — highlighting the unity and harmony throughout production.

Directed by RS Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan fame, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Genelia D’Souza alongside Aamir and introduces ten new actors, all playing members of a basketball team with special needs. Aamir portrays Gulshan, an assistant coach who, after being fired, must choose between jail or 90 days of community service coaching this unconventional team.

Described as a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, this sports comedy-drama blends emotional depth with humour and social relevance. It marks Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after Laal Singh Chaddha, and early reviews suggest this could be another landmark film in his career.
