The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially approved the final, trimmed version of Sekhar Kammula’s highly anticipated film Kuberaa, awarding it a U/A certificate. The movie, which stars Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, will now hit theatres with a revised runtime of 181 minutes (3 hours and 1 minute).
From Longer Cut to Final Edit
Initially, Kuberaa had been cleared with a longer runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes, but the makers had indicated their intent to trim it down ahead of the official release. The early clearance was sought as a precaution to avoid last-minute certification delays. The final runtime now reflects these planned edits.
Dhanush on Working with Kammula
Speaking about the film, Dhanush shared that Kuberaa offered him a unique acting experience.
“It is a very different character from what I have played before and I enjoyed the challenge,” said the National Award-winning actor.
He credited director Sekhar Kammula for making the process seamless:
“Sekhar sir was brilliant. He taught me the nuances and made life very easy for me.”
Dhanush also mentioned the film’s intense shooting locations, including dumpyards and garbage trucks, which he described as an educational experience.
