Centre Approves ₹1,066.80 Crore Relief for Flood-Hit States; Assam, Uttarakhand Get Major Share

New Delhi – In a key move to support States battered by monsoon-induced calamities, the Union Government on Thursday (July 10, 2025) approved the release of ₹1,066.80 crore to six flood- and landslide-affected States under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

The funds have been allocated as follows:

  • Assam: ₹375.60 crore
  • Uttarakhand: ₹455.60 crore
  • Kerala: ₹153.20 crore
  • Manipur: ₹29.20 crore
  • Meghalaya: ₹30.40 crore
  • Mizoram: ₹22.80 crore

These States have witnessed extremely heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides during the ongoing south-west monsoon, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Cumulative Support in 2025

This year, the Central government has taken a proactive stance in addressing natural disasters:

  • ₹6,166 crore has been disbursed from the SDRF to 14 States.
  • ₹1,988.91 crore has been provided from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) to 12 States.
  • Additionally, ₹726.20 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) has been released to five States.
  • ₹17.55 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) has been given to two States.

National Relief Force on High Alert

The government has also deployed substantial logistical support to affected States, including:

  • 104 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) stationed across 21 States.
  • Support from the Army and Air Force for critical rescue, relief, and evacuation efforts in areas hit by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.

The Union Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with State governments to ensure timely relief, rescue, and rehabilitation of affected populations during the monsoon season.

As unpredictable weather patterns intensify due to climate change, this financial and logistical support forms the backbone of India’s disaster preparedness and response system.
