Varanasi, Aug 2:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Saturday, August 2, where he will unveil a slew of development projects valued at approximately ₹2,200 crore. The visit reflects a comprehensive push across sectors including infrastructure, education, health, tourism, environment, and rural development.
A key highlight of the visit will be the release of the 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme, benefiting crores of farmers across India. “For my family members in Kashi, tomorrow is a very special day,” PM Modi wrote on X, expressing enthusiasm for the occasion.
Connectivity & Infrastructure
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for major road projects, such as:
- Widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi Road and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar Road
- New railway overbridge at Hardattpur, easing traffic on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura stretch
- Launch of multiple urban and rural road corridors at Lahartara–Kotwa, Dalmandi, Gangapur, and Babatpur
- Two additional railway overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard
Power Supply Modernisation
To boost electricity infrastructure, PM Modi will launch works under the Smart Distribution Project and undergrounding of electrical lines, with investments exceeding ₹880 crore.
Tourism, Culture & Heritage
The Prime Minister will inaugurate:
- Redevelopment of 8 Kuccha riverfront ghats
- Beautification of Kalika Dham, Rangildas Kutiya Ghat, and Durgakund
- Restoration of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple
- Redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral house in Lamahi and museum upgrades
He will also initiate:
- Creation of Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur
- Beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 other parks
- Development of City Facility Centres at Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar
Environment & Water
To improve water quality and availability:
- Inauguration of 47 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission
- Foundation stones for kund purification works at Ramkund, Mandakini, Shankuldhara, and more
- Installation of four floating pujan platforms to aid in river cleanliness and rituals
Education Sector Uplift
PM Modi will:
- Inaugurate upgrades to 53 school buildings
- Lay the foundation for a new district library and modernization of Government High Schools at Jakhini and Lalpur
Healthcare & Animal Welfare
Significant enhancements include:
- Installation of robotic surgery and CT scan facilities at Mahamana Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital
- Foundation stone for a Homoeopathic College and Hospital
- Inauguration of an Animal Birth Control Centre and Dog Care Centre
