War 2 Advance Bookings Cross ₹2.24 Crore in India, Faces Box Office Clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie

By 9 PM on Sunday, advance bookings for War 2 had crossed ₹2.24 crore across formats, according to Sacnilk.com. The tally covers around 9,000 Hindi shows (2D, IMAX, DOLBY, 4DX, and others), 100 Tamil shows, and 115 Telugu shows — the latter fewer than expected despite co-star Jr NTR’s popularity in the Telugu market.

Including “block seats” — reserved by theatres for spot sales or studio promotions — the figure rises to ₹7.6 crore.

YRF announced bookings with a special video on Instagram, urging fans to “witness the carnage” from August 14.

However, War 2 will compete directly with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, releasing the same day.

International Pre-Sales Lag Behind
While domestic figures look healthy, US pre-sales have been slow. Despite 900 screens booked for Hindi paid previews, only about 1,600 tickets had been sold by Sunday morning, with many auditoriums yet to register a single booking. Telugu versions have shown slightly better momentum.

About the Film
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 continues the YRF Spy Universe, with Hrithik Roshan returning as rogue R&AW agent Kabir and Jr NTR playing the antagonist. Kiara Advani replaces Vaani Kapoor as the female lead.

Hrithik praised Jr NTR as a “one-take final-take star,” saying he learned the value of giving “100%” to every shot without second-guessing.

The film follows earlier Spy Universe titles like Tiger Zinda Hai, Pathaan, and the first War, with upcoming entry Alpha starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
