Clean Chit Recommended for Suspended CBI Judge Sudhir Parmar

In a major relief to suspended special CBI judge Sudhir Parmar, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged ₹400-crore money-laundering case involving real estate developers, a departmental inquiry committee has cleared him of charges of misconduct and favouritism.

The inquiry, conducted under Haryana Civil Services Rules by Jalandhar district and sessions judge Nirbhow Gill, reportedly did not find substantial evidence against Parmar. The report was submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which will now be examined by the Vigilance Disciplinary Committee before being placed before the full court for acceptance.

Parmar, suspended in April 2023, was in judicial custody from August 10 to November 2, 2023. Acceptance of the inquiry officer’s clean chit could prove to be a setback for the Haryana Vigilance Bureau, which had booked Parmar for alleged misconduct in cases handled by the ED and CBI.
