Chiranjeevi Drops Birthday Surprise Update on Vishwambhara

It’s been a long wait for fans of Vishwambhara, but on August 21, Megastar Chiranjeevi personally stepped forward with an exciting update. In a special video message, the actor revealed that a glimpse of the socio-fantasy drama will be unveiled today at 6:06 p.m., as part of his birthday celebrations tomorrow, August 22.

VFX at the Core of the Delay

The project, which first generated buzz with its teaser back in October 2024, faced criticism for its visual effects. Addressing the delay, Chiranjeevi explained that the second half of the film is heavily reliant on VFX and graphics, and the team decided to rework and upgrade key elements to deliver the highest-quality visuals possible.

“The team is going beyond their limits to ensure that the audience gets the best visual spectacle,” the veteran actor said in Telugu, noting that international artists have been roped in to elevate the post-production quality.

A Story for All Ages

Chiranjeevi also gave fans a small peek into the soul of Vishwambhara. He described the film as one that would appeal across age groups—with children enjoying the fantasy elements, while adults would be reminded of their childhood tales of chandamama kathalu.

Directed by Vassishta Mallidi of Bimbisara fame, the movie boasts a stellar cast including Trisha, Aashika Ranganath, Kunal Kapoor, Ramya Pasupaleti, Esha Chawla, and Ashrita Vemuganti Nanduri. The music is being composed by Oscar-winner MM Keeravani.

Release Timeline

Vishwambhara is currently slated for a summer 2026 release, with April being eyed as the window for its grand theatrical debut. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi’s other project, tentatively titled MEGA157—which went on floors in May 2025—will arrive earlier, targeting a Sankranthi 2026 release.
