Greater Noida Woman Set Ablaze by In-Laws Over ₹36 Lakh Dowry Demand, Husband Arrested

A woman was allegedly assaulted, dragged by her hair, and set ablaze by her husband and in-laws in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village on Thursday night (August 21, 2025). The victim, identified as Nikki (mid-30s), succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Horror Caught on Camera

Two disturbing videos of the incident have surfaced online.

  • In one, a man and woman can be seen assaulting Nikki and dragging her out of the house by her hair.
  • In another, she is seen limping down the stairs after being set on fire.

The videos were reportedly filmed by Kanchan, Nikki’s elder sister, who is married into the same family.

Eyewitness Account from Victim’s Son

The victim’s six-year-old son, who witnessed the attack, told police:

“They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and set her ablaze using a lighter.”

Dowry Allegations

Addressing the media, Kanchan alleged that Nikki was killed by her husband Vipin and his family for not fulfilling a dowry demand of ₹36 lakh.

“We were beaten and tortured for many days. They wanted Nikki gone so that Vipin could remarry,” she said.

Police Action

According to Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar, police were informed by Fortis Hospital about Nikki’s admission with severe burns. She was referred to Safdarjung Hospital, where she died before police arrived.

  • A case has been registered at Kasna Police Station based on Kanchan’s complaint.
  • Nikki’s husband Vipin has been arrested.
  • Teams have been formed to arrest the remaining accused.

“The post-mortem has been conducted. Nikki’s family has performed her last rites. All accused will be arrested soon,” ADCP Kumar said.
