Bengaluru – A city court on Tuesday rejected Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s request to be shifted from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari jail in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.
Appearing via video conference before the 57th CCH court, Darshan reportedly broke down, saying: “I don’t want anything for anyone, please give me poison… It has been nearly a month that I have seen sunlight. My hands are getting a fungal infection… Life here has become unbearable.” The judge, however, admonished him, stating he could not make such remarks.
While dismissing the transfer plea, the court granted limited relief, including permission for movement within the prison premises and additional bedding (pillows and bedsheets) as per the prison manual.
Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, along with actor Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, for the murder of fan Renukaswamy on June 9 after he allegedly harassed Gowda online. He spent 131 days in jail before securing interim bail in October, followed by regular bail in December from the Karnataka High Court. However, on August 14, 2025, the Supreme Court cancelled the bail following the state government’s challenge, sending him back to prison.
