EAM S. Jaishankar Slams Pakistan in Dutch Interview, Reiterates India’s Zero-Tolerance on Terrorism

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar took a firm stance against Pakistan’s terror links during an interview with Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant on Thursday, stating unequivocally that the Pakistani state and its army are deeply involved in supporting terrorism. Drawing a blunt analogy, he asked rhetorically, “Suppose that there were large military centres in the middle of a city like Amsterdam where tens of thousands of people gathered for military training—would you say your government knows nothing about that? The army is up to its neck in it,” he said, pointing to the systematic sheltering of terrorist groups within Pakistani territory. He lauded India’s armed forces for Operation Sindoor—India’s recent high-profile counter-terror operation—and emphasized that the country deserves international appreciation for its proactive stance against terrorism. Ceasefire and Consequences While Jaishankar acknowledged that the ceasefire understanding reached on May 10 has temporarily paused active military engagements between India and Pakistan, he issued a stern warning: “If terrorist attacks from Pakistan continue, there will be consequences. Tourism in Pahalgam Paralyzed After Terror Attack, Hoteliers Pin Hopes on Amarnath Yatra Revival

Pahalgam, a once-thriving tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, has witnessed a steep decline in visitor footfall following the gruesome terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, that claimed the lives of 26 civilians — 25 tourists and one local resident. The attack, which took place in the picturesque Baisaran meadow and led to a four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan, has left the local tourism industry in a state of crisis. According to the Pahalgam Hotels and Owners Association (PHOA), hotel occupancy has plunged to just 10%, with many large establishments reporting zero bookings. The more than 1,500 hotels in the area, once filled with vacationers, now stand deserted. “There are many big hotels with zero occupancy. Staff have been sent home until the situation improves,” said Javed Burza, president of the PHOA. “The terror attack was not just gruesome but deeply unsettling. The future of tourism looks grim right now.” Public parks such as Poshwan Park, Nehru Park, Island Park, Lidder View Park, and Aru Park, key attractions in the area, remain closed under government advisories. Local hoteliers are urging authorities to reopen these spaces to attract back domestic visitors. Despite the grim outlook, the hospitality sector is hoping for a turnaround with the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra on July 3. Many hotels are offering discounts of up to 50% to encourage bookings. “We are ready to host pilgrims. If the yatra goes well, tourists might return. We’re doing everything we can to make Pahalgam welcoming again,” said Mr. Burza. However, the impact on the local economy is already severe. With no agricultural land or orchards, Pahalgam’s approximately 9,264 residents depend almost entirely on tourism. Youth who had invested heavily in adventure sports such as zorbing and ziplining are now in financial distress. “I took a bank loan to start my business. With no tourists, everything is at a standstill,” said Nazeer Mir, a local entrepreneur. Others who had rented hotels for the peak May–June season are also facing losses. “We won’t even recover the advance payments we made to book the hotels. Many people have gone into depression. The government must step in to support us,” said local resident Firdous Dar. In response to the crisis, the Jammu and Kashmir Hotels and Restaurants Association (JKHARA) announced a 65% discount on hotel tariffs and the launch of customized packages for local tourists. “We are coming out of a war-like scenario. Hoteliers understand the situation and are committed to recovery,” said JKHARA president Babar Chowdhary. Despite the setback, hoteliers remain optimistic that Pahalgam’s natural beauty will eventually lure tourists back. “Our valley is clean, safe, and ready. We believe no act of terror can permanently dim the spirit of Kashmir,” Mr. Burza concluded.

Reliance to Invest ₹75,000 Crore in North East for Biogas, Telecom, Retail, and Healthcare Expansion: Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on Friday that the conglomerate will invest ₹75,000 crore in India’s North Eastern states over the next five years. Speaking at the Rising NorthEast Investors Summit, Ambani outlined an ambitious plan to boost infrastructure, clean energy, healthcare, and digital connectivity across the region. Ambani stated that the company would set up 350 integrated compressed biogas plants as part of its “waste to wealth” vision. These facilities will convert organic waste into CNG, which can be used for transportation, industrial fuel, and domestic cooking. Reliance also plans to significantly increase solar power generation in the region. The investment will also expand Reliance’s presence in telecom and retail. Ambani revealed that Reliance Jio has already covered 90% of the population with 5G services and aims to double its current subscriber base of five million within the year. He emphasized Jio’s goal of bringing artificial intelligence to every school, hospital, home, and enterprise in the region. On the retail front, Reliance will strengthen its supply chain by procuring more staples, fruits, and vegetables from local farmers, enhancing rural income. The group also plans to set up factories to manufacture high-quality FMCG products and promote the region’s artisan economy. In healthcare, Reliance Foundation is set to transform the region into a medical hub. A 150-bed comprehensive cancer hospital has already been established in Manipur, and further collaborations are underway with Mizoram University for breast cancer care using genomic data. In Guwahati, the group has built an advanced molecular diagnostics and research lab, which will house one of India’s largest genome sequencing capacities. Ambani noted that Reliance has already invested ₹30,000 crore in the North East over the past four decades. With the new ₹75,000 crore commitment, the group aims to generate over 2.5 million direct and indirect job opportunities, touching the lives of nearly the entire 45 million population of the region. In his concluding remarks, Ambani made six pledges to the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, promising long-term collaboration and growth for the region.

उत्तर प्रदेश एंटी-टेररिज्म स्क्वॉड (ATS) को खुफिया जानकारी मिली कि वाराणसी निवासी तुफैल, पुत्र मक्सूद आलम, पाकिस्तान समर्थित राष्ट्रविरोधी संगठनों द्वारा संचालित एक व्हाट्सएप ग्रुप से जुड़ा हुआ था। इस ग्रुप का उद्देश्य भारत की संप्रभुता, एकता और अखंडता को नुकसान पहुंचाना था। यह जानकारी एक आधिकारिक बयान में दी गई। तुफैल वाराणसी के जेतपुरा थाना क्षेत्र के दोषीपुरा इलाके का निवासी है। जांच में सामने आया कि वह सुरक्षा से जुड़ी संवेदनशील जानकारी पाकिस्तान के फोन नंबरों के साथ साझा कर रहा था। ATS वाराणसी फील्ड यूनिट द्वारा सूचना को विकसित करते हुए जांच की गई, जिसमें पुष्टि हुई कि तुफैल पाकिस्तान के कई व्यक्तियों के संपर्क में था। वह पाकिस्तान की प्रतिबंधित आतंकी संगठन तहरीक-ए-लब्बैक के नेता मौलाना शाद रिज़वी के वीडियो व्हाट्सएप ग्रुप्स में साझा कर रहा था। साथ ही, “गजवा-ए-हिंद”, बाबरी मस्जिद की घटना का बदला लेने और भारत में शरीया कानून लागू करने जैसे संदेश भी प्रसारित कर रहा था। तुफैल ने राजघाट, नमोघाट, ज्ञानवापी, रेलवे स्टेशन, जामा मस्जिद, लाल किला और निजामुद्दीन औलिया जैसे कई महत्वपूर्ण स्थलों की तस्वीरें और जानकारी पाकिस्तान के नंबरों को भेजी थी। वह इन पाकिस्तानी ग्रुप्स के लिंक वाराणसी के कई अन्य लोगों में भी प्रसारित कर रहा था। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, तुफैल पाकिस्तान के 600 से अधिक नंबरों के संपर्क में था। फेसबुक के माध्यम से उसकी बातचीत पाकिस्तान के फैसलाबाद निवासी एक महिला नफीसा से भी होती थी, जिसके पति के पाकिस्तानी सेना में होने की जानकारी सामने आई है। ATS ने 22 मई 2025 को वाराणसी के आदमपुर इलाके से तुफैल को गिरफ्तार किया। उसके विरुद्ध FIR संख्या 05/25 के अंतर्गत भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) की धाराएं 148/152 में लखनऊ स्थित ATS थाने में मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया है। गिरफ्तारी के दौरान उसका मोबाइल फोन और सिम कार्ड जब्त कर लिया गया। विधिक प्रक्रिया के तहत आरोपी को माननीय न्यायालय में प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा। मामले की जांच गंभीरता से जारी है।

‘अमृत भारत स्टेशन योजना’ के अंतर्गत नर्मदापुरम और शाजापुर रेलवे स्टेशनों का कायाकल्प, प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने किया लोकार्पण

अमृत भारत स्टेशन योजना’ के तहत नर्मदापुरम और शाजापुर सहित मध्यप्रदेश के छह रेलवे स्टेशनों का कायाकल्प कर उन्हें आधुनिक रूप प्रदान किया गया है। गुरुवार को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने राजस्थान के बीकानेर से वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से इन स्टेशनों का लोकार्पण किया। नर्मदापुरम रेलवे स्टेशन पर आयोजित कार्यक्रम में मध्यप्रदेश के राज्यपाल मंगुभाई पटेल (वीसी के माध्यम से), मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. मोहन यादव, प्रभारी मंत्री राकेश सिंह और स्थानीय जनप्रतिनिधि मौजूद रहे। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने इस अवसर पर रेलवे स्टेशनों के अभूतपूर्व आधुनिकीकरण की चर्चा करते हुए कहा कि ये स्टेशन केवल यात्री सुविधाओं तक सीमित नहीं हैं, बल्कि भारत की प्राचीन सांस्कृतिक विरासत को भी दर्शाते हैं। मध्यप्रदेश में जिन छह स्टेशनों का लोकार्पण हुआ, उनमें कटनी साउथ, श्रीधाम, नर्मदापुरम, शाजापुर, सिवनी और ओरछा शामिल हैं। मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. मोहन यादव ने नर्मदापुरम, बुधनी, इटारसी और सोहागपुर को मेट्रोपॉलिटन क्षेत्रों के रूप में विकसित करने की योजना की जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि राज्य सरकार ने बीईएमएल को रेल कोच निर्माण इकाई हेतु भूमि आवंटित की है, जिससे अब मध्यप्रदेश में ही आधुनिक कोच तैयार होंगे। नर्मदापुरम में आयोजित क्षेत्रीय औद्योगिक समागम में सौर उपकरण निर्माण इकाइयों की स्थापना की जाएगी। सरकार पर्यटन और विरासत संरक्षण को भी प्राथमिकता दे रही है। मुख्यमंत्री ने पचमढ़ी को भारत का प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थल बनाने की योजना की घोषणा की। साथ ही तीन बड़ी नदी परियोजनाओं पर कार्य जारी है जिससे सिंचाई का क्षेत्रफल बढ़ाया जाएगा। मुख्यमंत्री ने बताया कि 26, 27 और 28 मई को नरसिंहपुर में कृषि प्रदर्शनी का आयोजन किया जाएगा, जिसमें किसानों को आधुनिक कृषि तकनीकों और कृषि आधारित उद्योगों का प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा। राज्य सरकार ‘नारी शक्तिकरण मिशन’ के माध्यम से महिला सशक्तिकरण को बढ़ावा दे रही है। इसी के तहत 31 मई को भोपाल में एक भव्य महिला सशक्तिकरण सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया जाएगा, जिसमें प्रधानमंत्री मोदी भी शामिल होंगे। यह आयोजन अहिल्या माता की 300वीं जयंती के अवसर पर होगा। वरिष्ठ वाणिज्य प्रबंधक सौरभ कटारिया ने कहा कि इस परियोजना से यात्रियों की सुविधा बढ़ेगी और क्षेत्रीय विकास को गति मिलेगी। यह कार्य ‘अमृत काल’ में भारतीय रेलवे की प्रगति के दृष्टिकोण से मेल खाता है। इस दौरान पश्चिम मध्य रेलवे की महाप्रबंधक शोभना बनर्जी, भोपाल मंडल रेल प्रबंधक देवाशीष त्रिपाठी सहित अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे। नर्मदापुरम रेलवे स्टेशन – आध्यात्मिक संस्कृति और आधुनिक सुविधाओं का संगमकरीब 26 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से नर्मदापुरम रेलवे स्टेशन का पुनर्विकास किया गया है। इसका डिज़ाइन माँ नर्मदा थीम पर आधारित है, जिसमें विस्तृत सर्कुलेटिंग एरिया, एलईडी लाइटिंग, चौड़ा फुट ओवर ब्रिज और दिव्यांगजन अनुकूल सुविधाएं शामिल हैं। यह स्टेशन अब आधुनिक सुविधाओं के साथ-साथ एक सांस्कृतिक केंद्र के रूप में भी विकसित हो गया है। शाजापुर रेलवे स्टेशन – परंपरा और आधुनिकता का मेलशाजापुर रेलवे स्टेशन के लोकार्पण समारोह में सांसद महेन्द्र सिंह सोलंकी, विधायक अरुण भीमावद और स्थानीय अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे। लगभग 13 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से स्टेशन पर उन्नत प्लेटफॉर्म, नई अधोसंरचना और आधुनिक यात्री सुविधाएं विकसित की गई हैं। स्टेशन का ‘आर्ट एंड कल्चर ज़ोन’ स्थानीय परंपराओं को दर्शाता है, जो पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करता है।

सीपीआई (माओवादी) के शीर्ष नेता बसवराजू के खात्मे के साथ संगठन को ‘सिरविहीन’ कर देना किसी एक झटके में नहीं हुआ, बल्कि यह केंद्र और छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार के बीच समन्वित, खुफिया-आधारित कार्रवाइयों की एक लंबी श्रृंखला का परिणाम है, जिसने दिसंबर 2023 में राज्य में बीजेपी सरकार बनने के बाद तीव्र गति पकड़ी। गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने 2019 में ही वामपंथी उग्रवाद को जड़ से खत्म करने का संकल्प लिया था, जिसका उद्देश्य था कि सुरक्षा बल उन इलाकों में प्रवेश करें जो अब तक प्रशासन और पुलिस से अछूते रहे हैं, और वहाँ के स्थानीय लोगों को केंद्र की योजनाओं से जोड़ें। बिहार और झारखंड में माओवादियों के मजबूत गढ़ पहले ही काफी हद तक खत्म किए जा चुके थे। इसके बाद अगला तार्किक कदम था अबूझमाड़ क्षेत्र — माओवादियों की सबसे सुरक्षित मानी जाने वाली शरणस्थली। 2023 के बाद से केंद्र की एजेंसियों जैसे कि सीआरपीएफ, आईबी और बीएसएफ तथा छत्तीसगढ़ पुलिस और उसकी विशिष्ट इकाइयों जैसे जिला रिजर्व गार्ड (DRG) और स्पेशल टास्क फोर्स (STF) के बीच अभूतपूर्व समन्वय देखने को मिला। पिछले डेढ़ वर्षों में एक सुव्यवस्थित रणनीति के तहत माओवादी संगठन के वरिष्ठ, मध्यम और निचले स्तर के नेतृत्व को निशाना बनाते हुए उनके प्रभाव क्षेत्र को सिमटाकर अंतरराज्यीय सीमा क्षेत्रों तक सीमित कर दिया गया। केवल दिसंबर 2023 से 21 मई 2025 तक, छत्तीसगढ़ में 401 माओवादी मारे गए, 1429 गिरफ्तार किए गए और 1355 ने आत्मसमर्पण किया। सुरक्षा बलों द्वारा 2019 से अब तक 555 फॉरवर्ड ऑपरेटिंग बेस (FOBs) स्थापित किए गए हैं ताकि माओवादियों को दोबारा प्रभाव जमाने से रोका जा सके और विकास की प्रक्रिया को तेज किया जा सके। माओवादियों की लगातार होती क्षति के बीच अब वे संघर्षविराम और वार्ता की अपील कर रहे हैं, लेकिन केंद्र सरकार का लक्ष्य स्पष्ट है — मार्च 2026 तक नक्सलवाद का पूर्ण उन्मूलन। इसी दिशा में ऑपरेशन ब्लैक फॉरेस्ट (22 अप्रैल – 11 मई) और नारायणपुर ऑपरेशन जैसे निर्णायक अभियानों ने कुल 58 माओवादियों को ढेर कर दिया, जिनमें शीर्ष नेता बसवराजू भी शामिल थे। ऑपरेशन ब्लैक फॉरेस्ट के तहत माओवादी नेताओं और PLGA की सबसे ताकतवर बटालियन नं. 1 को छत्तीसगढ़-तेलंगाना सीमा स्थित कर्रगुट्टालू पहाड़ियों से खदेड़ दिया गया। वहीं नारायणपुर ऑपरेशन, जो बुधवार को अंजाम दिया गया, माओवादियों के लिए अब तक की सबसे बड़ी चोट साबित हुआ। खास बात यह रही कि DRG की इस कार्रवाई में वे पूर्व नक्सली शामिल थे जिन्होंने आत्मसमर्पण कर सुरक्षाबलों का हिस्सा बन देशसेवा का संकल्प लिया और आखिरकार उसी नेता बसवराजू को ढेर कर दिया, जिसकी कभी वे कमान में लड़ते थे। यह माओवादी आंदोलन के अंत की एक निर्णायक कहानी है — जिसमें रणनीति, समन्वय, साहस और जनसमर्थन सभी की भूमिका रही।

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने आज राजस्थान के बीकानेर में एक जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि 22 अप्रैल को जम्मू-कश्मीर के पहलगाम में हुए आतंकी हमले का भारत ने महज़ 22 मिनट में बदला लिया। उन्होंने बताया कि ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के तहत भारतीय सेना ने पाकिस्तान और पाकिस्तान अधिकृत कश्मीर (PoK) में स्थित नौ सबसे बड़े आतंकी ठिकानों को ध्वस्त कर दिया। पीएम मोदी ने कहा, “जब सिंदूर बारूद बन जाता है, तो दुश्मनों को अंजाम भुगतना पड़ता है। न खून, बल्कि मेरी रगों में सिंदूर उबाल मारता है।” प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि इस हमले में लगभग 100 आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया गया, जो जैश-ए-मोहम्मद, लश्कर-ए-तैयबा और हिजबुल मुजाहिदीन जैसे आतंकी संगठनों से जुड़े थे। उन्होंने यह भी कहा, “पहलगाम की गोलियों ने 140 करोड़ भारतीयों के दिलों को चीर दिया। हमने आतंक के केंद्र पर वार किया और सेना को खुली छूट दी। हमारी सेना ने पाकिस्तान को घुटनों पर ला दिया।” इस अवसर पर पीएम मोदी ने अमृत भारत स्टेशन योजना के तहत पुनर्विकसित देशनोक स्टेशन का उद्घाटन किया और बीकानेर-मुंबई एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाई। उन्होंने देशनोक स्थित करणी माता मंदिर में पूजा-अर्चना भी की और स्कूली छात्रों से संवाद किया। पीएम मोदी ने कहा, “5 साल पहले बालाकोट एयर स्ट्राइक के बाद मेरी पहली जनसभा राजस्थान की सीमा पर हुई थी और अब ऑपरेशन सिंदूर के बाद फिर से मेरी पहली जनसभा बीकानेर की इसी वीरभूमि पर हो रही है। यह वीरभूमि का तप ही है कि ऐसे संयोग बनते हैं।” उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि पहलगाम में आतंकियों ने हमारी बहनों के सिंदूर को उनके धर्म पूछकर मिटा दिया। अब देशवासी एकजुट हैं और यह संकल्प ले चुके हैं कि आतंक का समूल नाश किया जाएगा।

Banu Mushtaq Creates History as First Kannada Author to Win International Booker Prize

Indian writer, lawyer, and activist Banu Mushtaq has etched her name in literary history by becoming the first Kannada-language author to win the prestigious International Booker Prize. Her acclaimed short story anthology, Heart Lamp, is also the first short story collection ever to win this global literary honor. The International Booker Prize jury praised Heart Lamp for its “astonishing portraits of survival and resilience”, highlighting its powerful depiction of the lives of Muslim women in southern India. Spanning 12 short stories written between 1990 and 2023, the collection sheds light on the quiet struggles and uncelebrated courage of women shaped by religious conservatism and patriarchy. A Landmark for Indian and Regional Literature Heart Lamp was translated from Kannada by Deepa Bhasthi, who now becomes the first Indian translator to win the International Booker. The £50,000 prize will be shared equally between Mushtaq and Bhasthi. In her emotive acceptance speech, Mushtaq stated: “This book was born from the belief that no story is ever small; that in the tapestry of human experience, every thread holds the weight of the whole.” She emphasized the transformative power of literature: “In a world that often tries to divide us, literature remains one of the last sacred spaces where we can live inside each other’s minds, if only for a few pages.” Translator Bhasthi expressed hope that this recognition would encourage more translations from and into Kannada and other South Asian languages, long underrepresented on the global stage. The Journey of Banu Mushtaq Born and raised in a small town in Karnataka, Mushtaq grew up in a conservative Muslim neighborhood and studied the Quran in Urdu. However, her father—a government employee—enrolled her in a Kannada-medium convent school at age eight, defying societal norms. Kannada, once an “alien tongue” to her, eventually became the language of her creativity and activism. Mushtaq’s writing journey began in school, and she persisted in higher education despite societal pressure to marry early. She married at 26, but her early years of marriage were marked by personal challenges—an experience that later seeped into her writing. Her first published short story appeared in a local magazine during this difficult period. Now, with the International Booker Prize, her life and literary journey have received global recognition. Mushtaq’s deeply self-aware storytelling, often reflecting her own life and the broader female experience in South Asian societies, has been described as: “In a literary culture that rewards spectacle, Heart Lamp insists on the value of attention—to lives lived at the edges, to unnoticed choices, to the strength it takes simply to persist. That is Banu Mushtaq’s quiet power.” A Literary Legacy Following in the footsteps of Geetanjali Shree, whose Hindi novel Tomb of Sand (translated by Daisy Rockwell) won the International Booker in 2022, Mushtaq’s victory represents a new wave of global attention for Indian regional languages.
