US President Donald Trump has urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to reconsider the tech giant’s ongoing expansion in India, expressing concerns over high tariffs and a preference for domestic manufacturing. Speaking at a business event in Doha, Trump revealed that he had a “little problem” with Cook, stating, “I said to him, my friend, I am treating you very good. You are coming up with $500 billion, but now I hear you are building all over India. I don’t want you building in India.” Trump emphasized that Apple could choose to build in India only if it was committed to supporting the country independently. “India is one of the highest tariff nations in the world, so it is very hard to sell in India. India can take care of themselves,” he asserted. The US President claimed New Delhi had offered Washington a deal involving minimal tariffs on US goods, though no such agreement has been confirmed by the Indian government. The remarks come at a time when Apple is actively shifting parts of its manufacturing base from China to India in response to tariff-related pressures from the US government. Apple CEO Tim Cook had recently indicated that the majority of iPhones sold in the US could soon be manufactured in India. Currently, Apple operates three production facilities in India—two in Tamil Nadu and one in Karnataka—run by Foxconn and Tata Group. Two additional plants are also in development. In the fiscal year ending March, Apple assembled iPhones worth $22 billion in India, marking a 60 percent increase from the previous year. Massive Fire Guts 22 Warehouses in Thane’s Bhiwandi Area, Chaos in Surrounding Localities

A massive fire broke out early Monday morning, May 12, in a warehouse at the Richland Compound in Bhiwandi, located in Maharashtra’s Thane district. The blaze, which quickly spread and was visible from several kilometres away, has caused widespread panic and chaos in the surrounding areas. According to news agency PTI, the fire first erupted in five units before rapidly engulfing a nearby storage space containing mandap (wedding stage) decorations. India TV News reports that approximately 22 warehouses have been destroyed in the inferno. The affected warehouses reportedly contained chemicals, printing machinery, electronic items, protein food powders, cosmetic products, clothing, footwear, mandap decoration materials, and furniture. Firefighting and rescue operations were swiftly initiated after distress calls were made. Fire tenders from Bhiwandi and Kalyan were deployed to the scene. As of now, four fire engines are actively working to control the fire. Police forces and emergency responders are also present, assisting with operations and crowd control. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is expected once the blaze is fully brought under control. No casualties have been reported so far. This incident follows a similar fire on May 10, when a plywood factory-cum-godown in Thane’s Rahnal village caught fire, leading to serious injuries to firefighters. That fire, which broke out around 3:30 am, spread rapidly due to the highly combustible materials stored inside.

चिकित्सालय की चौखट पर प्रशासन की दस्तक – जनसेवा बना संकल्प कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता ने मेडिकल कॉलेज विदिशा की व्यवस्थाओं का किया निरीक्षण मरीजों से सीधे संवाद कर जानी चिकित्सा सुविधाओं की वास्तविक स्थिति द क्लिफ़ न्यूज़ विदिशाजिले के कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता ने गत दिवस शासकीय मेडिकल कॉलेज, विदिशा से संबद्ध चिकित्सालय का औचक निरीक्षण कर अस्पताल की व्यवस्थाओं का बारीकी से जायजा लिया। इस दौरान उन्होंने आकस्मिक चिकित्सा विभाग (इमरजेंसी), ओपीडी, रेडियोलॉजी विभाग एवं पंजीयन काउंटर का भ्रमण कर व्यवस्थाओं की स्थिति देखी और आवश्यक सुधारात्मक निर्देश जारी किए। निरीक्षण के दौरान कलेक्टर श्री गुप्ता विशेष रूप से बाल्य एवं शिशु रोग विभाग की ओपीडी में संचालित ऑटिज्म से ग्रसित बच्चों के लिए विशेष ओपीडी का अवलोकन किया। उन्होंने इस सेवा के तहत उपलब्ध सुविधाओं, उपचार पद्धतियों और माता-पिता को दी जा रही काउंसलिंग की जानकारी ली तथा इस कार्य की सराहना की। मरीजों से की सीधी बातचीत, जानी व्यवस्थाओं की हकीकतनिरीक्षण के दौरान श्री गुप्ता ने भर्ती मरीजों से सीधा संवाद कर चिकित्सालय में मिलने वाले उपचार, भोजन, दवाइयों एवं अन्य सुविधाओं की वस्तुस्थिति जानी। मरीजों ने बताया कि अस्पताल में उन्हें समय पर समुचित उपचार मिल रहा है तथा अस्पताल में भर्ती के दौरान भोजन की भी समुचित व्यवस्था की जाती है। मरीजों की सुविधा हेतु दिए निर्देशकलेक्टर श्री गुप्ता ने निर्देशित किया कि ओपीडी क्षेत्र में मरीजों की प्रतीक्षा के लिए पर्याप्त वेटिंग चेयर की व्यवस्था की जाए। साथ ही, वार्डों में कार्यरत डॉक्टर, नर्स एवं अन्य स्टाफ के नाम व मोबाइल नंबर स्पष्ट रूप से दर्शाए जाएं, जिससे मरीजों और उनके परिजनों को किसी भी तरह की असुविधा न हो और वे संपर्क कर आवश्यक जानकारी प्राप्त कर सकें। वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की उपस्थिति में हुआ निरीक्षणनिरीक्षण के दौरान मेडिकल कॉलेज के डीन डॉ. मनीष निगम, सह चिकित्सा अधीक्षक डॉ. अविनाश लाघवे सहित अन्य संबंधित अधिकारी एवं स्वास्थ्य कर्मी उपस्थित रहे। सभी अधिकारियों को कलेक्टर द्वारा निर्देशित किया गया कि मरीजों की सुविधा और अस्पताल की स्वच्छता को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता दी जाए। इस निरीक्षण से स्पष्ट हुआ कि कलेक्टर श्री गुप्ता न केवल व्यवस्थाओं की सतही समीक्षा कर रहे हैं, बल्कि मरीजों की राय लेकर जमीनी स्तर पर सुधार सुनिश्चित करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं। यह कदम जिले में स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की गुणवत्ता को बेहतर बनाने की दिशा में एक प्रभावी पहल माना जा रहा है।

सिविल डिफेंस प्लान की समीक्षा: जिले में आपातकालीन तैयारियों को लेकर अधिकारियों के दायित्वों पर चर्चा द क्लिफ़ न्यूज़ विदिशाकेन्द्रीय गृह मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी मास्टर प्लान फॉर सिविल डिफेंस 2025 के अंतर्गत विदिशा जिले में तैयार किए गए सिविल डिफेंस प्लान (सीडी प्लान) की समीक्षा बैठक कलेक्ट्रेट के बेतवा सभागार में सोमवार को कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता और पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री रोहित काशवानी की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित की गई। बैठक में अधिकारियों द्वारा अब तक किए गए कार्यों और तैयारियों की अद्यतन स्थिति प्रस्तुत की गई और भविष्य में किए जाने वाले उपायों पर चर्चा की गई। सिविल डिफेंस प्लान के विभिन्न बिंदुओं पर चर्चा सिविल डिफेंस प्लान के तहत जिले में विभिन्न सेवाओं की योजना बनाई गई है, जिनमें मुख्यालय सेवा, संचार सेवा, अग्निशमन सेवा, चिकित्सा सेवा, दुर्घटना और बचाव सेवा, विद्युत सेवा, सालवेज सेवा, और आपूर्ति सेवाएं शामिल हैं। इन सभी सेवाओं की क्रियान्वयन स्थिति पर चर्चा की गई और अधिकारियों को सुस्पष्ट दिशा-निर्देश दिए गए। कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता ने बैठक में बताया कि अप्रत्याशित परिस्थितियों में पैनिक की स्थिति से बचने के लिए जन जागरूकता कार्यक्रम चलाए जा रहे हैं। आमजन को इस प्रकार की आपातकालीन परिस्थितियों से निपटने के लिए प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है। सायरन, आपातकालीन नियंत्रण और स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं बैठक के दौरान एयर रैड सायरन की स्थिति, कार्यरत सायरनों की संख्या, बैकअप की उपलब्धता, और केंद्रीय अलर्ट सिस्टम से जुड़े रहने की जानकारी ली गई। इसके अलावा जिले में इमरजेंसी कंट्रोल रूम और विकासखण्ड मुख्यालयों पर एक साथ कार्यरत कंट्रोल रूम के संचालन पर भी चर्चा की गई। साथ ही, स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं के लिए बर्न यूनिट, सर्जन्स, बेड क्षमता, और जिला चिकित्सालय के साथ विकासखण्ड अस्पतालों की तैयारियों की समीक्षा की गई। फायर सेफ्टी ड्रिल, चिकित्सीय सुविधाओं का इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर और अन्य आवश्यकताओं के संबंध में भी अधिकारियों से जानकारी ली गई। स्वयंसेवकों की भूमिका और प्रशिक्षण बैठक में स्वयंसेवकों की संख्या और उन्हें प्रशिक्षित करने की व्यवस्था पर भी चर्चा की गई। होमगार्ड विभाग को स्वयंसेवकों के प्रशिक्षण की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है। सोशल मीडिया और जन जागरूकता पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री रोहित काशवानी ने बैठक में सोशल मीडिया पर भ्रामक जानकारियों के प्रसार से बचने के लिए निर्देश दिए और किसी भी अप्रत्याशित घटना की सूचना तत्काल वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों तक पहुँचाने की बात की। इसके अलावा, उन्होंने प्रत्येक ग्राम पंचायत में पाँच-पाँच स्वयंसेवकों के नामांकन और प्रशिक्षण की योजना पर जोर दिया। कंट्रोल रूम और ब्लैकआउट प्लान की समीक्षा कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता ने कंट्रोल रूम की व्यवस्था पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया और कहा कि यह सुनिश्चित किया जाएगा कि जिला मुख्यालय और अनुविभाग स्तर पर भी कंट्रोल रूम पूरी तरह से सक्रिय हों। साथ ही, पावर यूटिलिटीज और ब्लैकआउट प्लान के समन्वय पर भी चर्चा की गई। सामाजिक जागरूकता और स्थानीय मीडिया का योगदान कलेक्टर ने बताया कि सिविल डिफेंस प्लान के तहत जन जागरूकता के लिए सोशल मीडिया और स्थानीय समाचार पत्रों का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा। लोगों को रेड, येलो और ग्रीन सायरन के विभिन्न चरणों से अवगत कराया जाएगा ताकि वे आपातकालीन स्थिति में उचित कदम उठा सकें। बैठक में भाग लेने वाले अधिकारी समीक्षा बैठक में अपर कलेक्टर श्री अनिल कुमार डामोर, अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री प्रशांत चैबे, जिला पंचायत सीईओ श्री ओपी सनोडिया, वन मण्डलाधिकारी श्री हेमंत यादव, और अन्य विभागीय अधिकारी उपस्थित थे। खंड स्तरीय अधिकारियों से वीडियो कांफ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से संवाद किया गया। कलेक्टर श्री अंशुल गुप्ता ने बैठक के अंत में अधिकारियों से यह सुनिश्चित करने की बात कही कि सभी विभाग अपने दायित्वों का समय पर पालन करें ताकि किसी भी अप्रत्याशित घटना के दौरान जिले में त्वरित और प्रभावी उपाय किए जा सकें।

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posed pointed questions to the government, raising concerns about whether India has abandoned the Simla Agreement, which bars third-party involvement in India-Pakistan issues. His remarks came amid reports that the ceasefire understanding was brokered by the US, with announcements initially emerging from Washington DC. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also referenced a “neutral site” for talks, prompting Ramesh to ask: “Has New Delhi opened the doors to third-party mediation? Have diplomatic channels with Pakistan been reopened?” The ceasefire, which followed four days of intense missile and drone strikes, is said to have included an immediate halt to all military actions—by land, air, and sea—but tensions remain. Indian officials have stated that Operation Sindoor is still underway and that India retains the right to retaliate if provoked further. Ramesh further evoked the legacy of former PM Indira Gandhi, referencing her strong leadership in 1971 and her deft handling of the IMF loan negotiations in the early 1980s, as a benchmark for sovereign, bold policymaking. “The situation demands a response from the Prime Minister himself,” he asserted, citing remarks from former Army Chiefs V. P. Malik and Manoj Naravane who have weighed in on the India-Pakistan understanding. Congress has asked for clear answers on the terms of the ceasefire, any commitments secured, and the role of external powers like the US—insisting that Parliament and the public deserve transparency in matters of national security and diplomacy.
