Fresh FIR Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, and Others Amid ‘India’s Got Latent’ Roast Controversy

Mumbai Police has registered a fresh FIR against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, YouTuber Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, and others over controversial remarks made during the India’s Got Latent roast show. The complaint, filed by Sanmati Pandey, alleges that the social media influencers insulted religious beliefs and degraded the Indian family system. Allahbadia’s controversial remark, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” has sparked outrage, with the complainant arguing that it was an attack on marriage as a religious rite. Apoorva Mukhija’s comment on Arunachal Pradesh’s food habits has also been flagged for endangering communal harmony. With Assam Police launching a parallel investigation and the National Commission for Women summoning the accused for a hearing on February 17, the controversy continues to escalate. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has also filed a case under the IT Act, with notices reportedly being sent to 30 individuals involved in the show. Meanwhile, Allahbadia has issued a public apology, admitting to a lapse in judgment and acknowledging that his remark was inappropriate. However, the backlash continues, with political figures raising concerns in Parliament and demanding stricter content regulation on OTT platforms.

US Congressmen Challenge DOJ’s Adani Indictment, Warn of Strained India Ties

Six US Congressmen have raised concerns over the US Department of Justice’s (DOJ) indictment against the Adani Group, calling it a “questionable decision” that could jeopardize US-India relations. In a letter to newly appointed Attorney General Pamela Bondi, lawmakers Lance Gooden, Pat Fallon, Mike Haridopolos, Brandon Gill, William R. Timmons, and Brian Babin criticized the Biden administration for pursuing the case. Allegations Against Adani Group US prosecutors allege that Adani executives were involved in a $250 million (₹2,100 crore) bribery scheme to secure favorable terms for solar power contracts in India. The indictment claims this information was concealed from US banks and investors, giving US jurisdiction over the case. Congressmen’s Argument: Unjustified Interference? Trump Factor & Economic Concerns The Congressmen highlight that the case comes just before Donald Trump’s return to the White House and stress that Adani has contributed billions and created thousands of jobs. They warn that such “needless pursuits” could discourage foreign investment in the US economy. With Adani denying the charges and political tensions rising, the case now carries major diplomatic and economic implications. Will the DOJ reconsider its stance, or will this lead to further friction in US-India relations?

Chum Darang Slams Elvish Yadav Over Racist Remarks, Calls for End to Hate Speech

Actress and former Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang strongly condemned YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav for his alleged racist remarks against her on a podcast. In a statement on her Instagram story, Darang criticized Elvish’s comments, emphasizing the need to differentiate humor from hate. “Disrespecting someone’s identity & name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humour and hate,” she wrote. Elvish’s remarks targeted Darang’s role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), where he mocked Bigg Boss 18 winner Karan Veer Mehra’s choice in women. In the latest episode of The Little Adda Company podcast hosted by Rajat Dalal, Elvish allegedly said, “Karan Veer ko pakka Covid tha kyuki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai? Aur Chum ke toh naam mai hi ashleelta hai. Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mai kiya hai.” Reacting to this, Darang expressed her disappointment, saying, “This wasn’t just about my ethnicity—my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected. To my fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism, I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you. Let’s raise our voices against racism and promote a culture of empathy, kindness, and understanding.” Following backlash, host Rajat Dalal defended Elvish in an Instagram ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, claiming the remarks were scripted. Elvish Yadav has faced criticism in the past for alleged sexist and provocative comments against celebrities like Kusha Kapila and Arjun Bijlani. Additionally, in November 2023, Noida police registered an FIR against him and five others after the discovery of illegal snake venom and live cobras at an alleged rave party.
