‘Annadata Kalyan Mission’ to Boost Farmers’ Income; Focus on Organic Farming, Horticulture & Allied Sectors
In a bid to enhance the income of farmers, the agriculture department is set to launch the ‘Annadata Kalyan Mission’, aligning with the government’s GYAN initiative (Garib, Yuva, Annadata, and Nari). The mission aims to integrate various agricultural and allied sector schemes on a common platform to maximize benefits for farmers. A senior official stated that the mission will merge select schemes from agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, and fisheries departments to provide holistic support. Initially named Krishak Kalyan Mission, it was later rebranded to emphasize the role of Annadata (food providers). Key Focus Areas of Annadata Kalyan Mission: The mission also aims to establish a milk procurement network through cooperatives and strengthen the value chain for farm produce. With the draft under preparation, the initiative is expected to transform farmers into progressive entrepreneurs, ensuring sustainable income growth.
