Man Arrested for Attempting to Take Control of Deceased Politician’s Mobile Number to Access Bank Accounts

A 48-year-old man, Vivek Sabhrewal, who holds an MBA degree and previously worked at a bank, was arrested on Sunday night from the Burari locality in Delhi. His arrest was made by officials from Bandra police station in connection with a cyber fraud case involving the late Maharashtra minister, Baba Ziauddin Siddique. Siddique was shot dead by two assailants on October 12, 2024. Following his death, his family decided to keep his mobile number active. His wife, Shahzeen Siddique, was designated as the authorised signatory of the number after completing the necessary formalities with the mobile service provider. On June 25, Shahzeen Siddique received an email from Vodafone Idea, notifying her about a request to update the authorised signatory on the same mobile number. Upon examining the email, her daughter, Dr. Arshia Siddique, noticed that the request was made using an email ID that closely resembled her mother’s—differing by just one letter—indicating an attempt at impersonation. Realizing the suspicious nature of the email, Arshia promptly lodged a police complaint. The police traced the accused using the mobile number linked to the fraudulent application. During interrogation, Sabhrewal allegedly confessed that his motive was to become the authorised signatory of the late leader’s mobile number to gain access to his bank accounts and siphon off funds. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 319 (cheating by personation), Section 335 (making a false document or fake electronic record), and Section 336 (forgery). Further investigation into the case is currently underway.

27% OBC आरक्षण में देरी पर कांग्रेस का अल्टीमेटम: प्रदेशव्यापी आंदोलन की चेतावनी

मध्यप्रदेश में अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग (OBC) को 27% आरक्षण देने में हो रही देरी को लेकर कांग्रेस ने राज्य की भाजपा सरकार को खुली चेतावनी दी है। शनिवार को प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष जीतू पटवारी और विधानसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष उमंग सिंघार ने संयुक्त प्रेस वार्ता में कहा कि यदि शीघ्र ही OBC आरक्षण लागू नहीं किया गया तो कांग्रेस पूरे प्रदेश में आंदोलन शुरू करेगी। “भाजपा का ओबीसी विरोधी चेहरा सामने आ गया है। कांग्रेस अंतिम दम तक इस अन्याय के खिलाफ लड़ेगी,” पटवारी ने कहा। उन्होंने भाजपा सरकार पर धोखाधड़ी, विश्वासघात और ओबीसी समाज के साथ शर्मनाक अन्याय करने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार संविधान की मूल संरचना से भी छेड़छाड़ कर रही है, ताकि पिछड़े वर्ग को उनके अधिकार न मिलें। सुप्रीम कोर्ट की बार-बार सख्त हिदायतों के बावजूद 27% आरक्षण लागू नहीं किया गया, जिससे ओबीसी समाज को उनके संवैधानिक अधिकार से वंचित किया जा रहा है। पटवारी ने कहा, “यह भाजपा की साजिश है कि प्रदेश की 50% से ज्यादा आबादी को गुलाम बनाकर उनका भविष्य बर्बाद किया जाए। हम यह कभी बर्दाश्त नहीं करेंगे।” सुप्रीम कोर्ट की फटकार नेता प्रतिपक्ष उमंग सिंघार ने बताया कि शुक्रवार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में OBC आरक्षण के मामले की सुनवाई के दौरान कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार की निष्क्रियता और टालमटोल रवैये पर कड़ी नाराज़गी जताई। कोर्ट ने मुख्य सचिव से हलफनामा मांगा है, जिसमें यह स्पष्ट करना होगा कि वर्तमान में रुके हुए 13% पदों की नियुक्तियों में क्या बाधाएं हैं। सिंघार ने कहा कि 2019 में तत्कालीन कमलनाथ सरकार ने OBC आरक्षण को 14% से बढ़ाकर 27% कर दिया था, जिससे कुल आरक्षण कोटा 63% हो गया था। लेकिन भाजपा सरकार कोर्ट में लंबित याचिकाओं का बहाना बनाकर इसे लागू नहीं कर रही है। उन्होंने बताया कि 25 जून को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार से पूछा था कि जब कोई कानूनी बाधा नहीं है, तो 27% आरक्षण अभी तक लागू क्यों नहीं किया गया? फिर भी भाजपा सरकार इस दिशा में कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठा रही है। कांग्रेस की मांगें और चेतावनी कांग्रेस नेताओं ने मांग की कि: अन्यथा, कांग्रेस पूरे प्रदेश में विरोध-प्रदर्शन, रैलियां और जन-जागरूकता अभियान शुरू करेगी।
