Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has begun shooting for his next film, ‘Battle of Galwan’, a war drama inspired by the real-life clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in June 2020. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is described as “a heartfelt tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers.” Production kicked off in Ladakh with a small ritual, before Khan stepped into character for his demanding role as Colonel B Santosh Babu, the officer who led Indian troops during the confrontation. A behind-the-scenes photo of Khan in character—wearing a blue outfit and standing against the breathtaking mountainous backdrop of Ladakh—has already gone viral. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared an image of Khan preparing for an intense combat sequence. The movie will be shot extensively on location in Ladakh (25-day schedule) as well as in Mumbai. Lakhia confirmed filming with a glimpse from the set on his social media. To authentically portray an Army officer in extreme high-altitude conditions, Khan has undergone a rigorous preparation regimen, including weight training, cardio, a strict diet, and training in a high-pressure chamber at his residence. The film also stars Chitrangda Singh, Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, and Harshil Shah. ‘Battle of Galwan’ follows Khan’s recent outing Sikandar and comes ahead of his return as host of Bigg Boss, which begins its new season on August 24.

Ashwin Kumar’s animated mythological drama Mahavatar Narsimha has scripted history by becoming the first Indian animated film to cross the ₹300-crore mark globally. Trade figures confirmed the milestone on Monday, making it the fifth Indian film in 2025 to achieve this feat, after big live-action releases Chhaava, Saiyaara, Coolie, and War 2. From Slow Start to Box Office Glory The film had a modest opening, earning just ₹1.75 crore nett on its first day. However, strong word-of-mouth gradually turned the tide in its favour. With these figures, the film’s total domestic earnings have reached an impressive ₹231.75 crore nett, driving its worldwide total past the ₹300-crore milestone. Strong Competition, Steady Run Even with the release of two big-ticket action films, War 2 and Coolie, on August 14, Mahavatar Narsimha managed to retain its audience. Reduced show counts impacted collections in its fourth week, but the film rebounded in its fifth weekend, demonstrating its staying power. Franchise Plans Produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha is envisioned as the first part of a long-running franchise based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. Sequels have already been planned, with releases scheduled through 2037. Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated gangster drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, continues its strong run at the box office. Released on August 14 with massive hype, the film has now crossed the ₹250 crore mark in India within just 11 days, reaffirming Rajinikanth’s unparalleled star power. Box Office Performance After a thunderous opening weekend, Coolie witnessed a noticeable dip on weekdays but staged a remarkable recovery in its second weekend. On Day 11 (Sunday, August 24), the film earned around ₹10.75 crore nett across all languages, pushing its total domestic collection to ₹256.75 crore. Ajay Devgn’s already-packed slate of films may soon expand further, as reports suggest the actor is in active talks with Kannada filmmaker JP Tuminadu, the director of the recent hit Su From So, for a new horror-comedy. According to Pinkvilla, the project will be backed by KVN Productions, which is making an aggressive push into Hindi cinema. Sources revealed that Devgn has responded positively to the concept and asked Tuminadu to return with a complete script. “Ajay has not been a part of a proper horror comedy, and this one falls right in the zone that he was on the lookout for,” said a source familiar with the discussions. If finalised, the film is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2026. KVN Productions is also bankrolling big-ticket ventures including Haiwaan (starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan) and Yash’s Toxic, slated for an Eid 2026 release. Meanwhile, Devgn is currently shooting Ranger with director Jagan Shakti, and gearing up for two of his flagship franchises — Drishyam 3 (expected to roll in October 2025) and Golmaal FIVE (January 2026).

A Pune civil court has issued summons to actors Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and director Subhash Kapoor over allegations that their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3 disrespects the judiciary. The court has directed the trio to appear in person on October 28 at 11 a.m. The summons comes in response to a petition filed by lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan, who argued that the film portrays the legal profession in a derogatory manner. He raised objections to certain scenes allegedly mocking advocates and judges, including one where the word “mama,” a slang expression, is reportedly used for members of the bench. The controversy arose after the teaser of Jolly LLB 3 was unveiled on August 12, 2025. While the teaser sparked excitement among fans, it also drew criticism from sections of the legal community. Khan emphasized, “There should be respect for lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in court, because what they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong.” The Jolly LLB franchise began in 2013 with Warsi in the lead role, followed by the 2017 sequel Jolly LLB 2 starring Kumar, which was a box-office success. The upcoming third installment reunites both actors, with Kapoor once again in the director’s chair. Produced by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under Star Studio 18, the film is scheduled to release on September 19, 2025. The complaint was originally filed in 2024 after the release of the first teaser but has resurfaced now, gaining momentum as the film approaches its theatrical release.
