Tara Sutaria and Veer Pahariya Make Their Relationship Instagram Official

If there’s one Bollywood couple that has long been the subject of speculation, it’s actors Veer Pahariya and Tara Sutaria. Fresh from his debut in Sky Force alongside Akshay Kumar, Veer—the younger of the Pahariya brothers—has often been spotted supporting Tara at her fashion week appearances. The two were also seen together at the airport, though nothing was confirmed at the time. Now, however, the whispers seem to have found their answer, as the pair appear to have made their relationship Instagram official. Tara shared glimpses of her Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations on Instagram, where she looked elegant in a sage-and-gold saree with her hair neatly styled. Standing beside her was Veer, who, despite looking a little casual, made for a dashing partner. Tara captioned the post: “Devotion, faith and celebration.. 🪷🕉️🪷 Ganpati Bappa Morya ✨.” Rumours about their relationship had already been making rounds. During her appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s (BeerBiceps) podcast, Tara spoke about love without naming anyone. “I’m very happy right now! Yes! I’m elated, over the moon,” she said. When asked if she ever indulged in moon-gazing with her partner, she playfully admitted, “Yeah, it’s actually a fun experience. Chaudhvin Ka Chand vibes.” She went on to add, “I’m lucky in that department. Because if I didn’t love love as much as I do, and did, and always will… I mean, anyone who loves it as much as I do will be a good partner because you prioritise that above all. It’s the important thing for me, undoubtedly.” The dating buzz grew stronger earlier this month when both Tara and Veer posted pictures from what seemed like the same Italian vacation. Their first public Instagram exchange further fueled the talk—when Tara shared a picture with singer AP Dhillon, Veer commented, “My 🌟❤️,” to which Tara replied, “@veerpahariya Mine🧿❤️.” On the professional front, Tara is rumoured to be shooting for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, a bilingual film in Kannada and English slated for release in 2026. She has previously starred in Student of the Year 2 (2019) and Heropanti 2 (2022). Veer, meanwhile, recently made his silver screen debut with the action-thriller Sky Force, alongside Akshay Kumar.

Hamas Confirms Death of Gaza Military Chief Mohammad Sinwar

Months after Israel’s claim, Hamas has officially confirmed the death of its Gaza military chief, Mohammad Sinwar. The Palestinian militant group announced his death by publishing photographs of Sinwar alongside other deceased leaders, referring to him as a “martyr,” but did not provide details on when or how he was killed. Following Sinwar’s death, Izz al-Din Haddad, who currently oversees operations in northern Gaza, is expected to assume leadership of Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Who was Mohammad Sinwar? Mohammad Sinwar was the younger brother of Yahya Sinwar, the former Hamas chief in Gaza and one of the key masterminds behind the October 7 attacks on southern Israel. Mohammad became the seventh commander of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades in July 2024, following the death of previous commanders. Known as the “shadow” by Israeli security services due to his secretive operations, Sinwar was believed to have worked largely behind the scenes. He reportedly played a central role in the 2006 abduction of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was released in 2011 as part of a prisoner swap that included his brother Yahya Sinwar. Over the years, Israel launched multiple assassination attempts against him—first in 2000 during the Second Intifada, and again in 2006, 2008, 2019, and 2021. During the 2014 Gaza war, Hamas even faked his death to conceal his whereabouts, leading Israeli intelligence to wrongly believe he had been killed until evidence of his survival emerged nearly a decade later. Israel’s May Strike Israel said it eliminated Sinwar in May 2025 during a targeted strike on an underground compound beneath the European Hospital in southern Gaza. The operation reportedly involved bunker-busting bombs and the sealing of tunnel exits. Soon after, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Sinwar had been killed, grouping him with other slain militant leaders such as Mohammad Deif, Hassan Nasrallah, and Yahya Sinwar. “We eliminated tens of thousands of terrorists… We’re taking control of their food distribution and money machine. This is what destroys their governing capabilities. That’s what we promised,” Netanyahu said. With Hamas’ confirmation, Israel’s claim of Sinwar’s death stands validated, marking the loss of yet another senior figure in the group’s leadership.

Justice Vikram Nath Credits ‘Stray Dog Case’ for Global Recognition

Supreme Court judge Justice Vikram Nath on Saturday said that the much-debated “stray dog case” had given him recognition beyond the legal fraternity, making him well-known in civil society not only in India but across the world. Speaking at the Regional Conference on Human-Wildlife Conflict in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Justice Nath expressed gratitude to Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai for assigning him the matter. “So long I have been known in the legal fraternity for the little work I do, but I am thankful to the stray dogs for making me known to the entire civil society, not only in this country but world over,” he said. He recalled that while speaking at the Law Asia POLA Summit, even foreign delegates had asked him questions about stray dogs. “I felt very elated… well people outside India also know me. So I am thankful to them for giving me this recognition. In addition to human blessings and good wishes, I have their good wishes also,” he remarked. The Delhi Stray Dog Case Justice Nath headed the three-judge bench that, on August 22, modified an earlier order of August 11 issued by a two-judge bench regarding the relocation of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. The August 11 order, delivered by Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan, had directed municipal authorities to round up stray dogs across the capital region and move them into shelters within eight weeks. However, Justice Nath’s bench ruled on August 22 that all dogs, except those infected with rabies or showing aggressive behaviour, must be released back to their original locations after sterilisation and vaccination. This contradicted the earlier directive and triggered widespread debate, with animal rights groups and dog lovers hailing the decision, while critics raised concerns about public safety.

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inaugurated Optiemus Infracom’s tempered glass screen protectors factory in Noida, marking a major step in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The plant comes with an overall outlay of ₹870 crore. Earlier this month, the company launched its RhinoTech brand — Made-in-India tempered glass screen protectors — developed using glass engineered by U.S.-based Corning. In the first phase, Optiemus has invested ₹70 crore, setting up an installed capacity of 25 million units annually. The facility is expected to generate direct employment for more than 600 people. “Optiemus is the new gem in the fast-growing electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country. By the end of this year, production of covered glass from Corning will also commence,” Mr. Vaishnaw said, urging the company to expand its research team from 40 to 400 members. Optiemus Chairman Ashok Kumar Gupta announced that in the second phase, the company plans to expand production capacity to 200 million units per year, aimed at both domestic and global markets. This expansion will require an additional ₹800 crore investment and create over 4,500 direct jobs. “This is the first time in India that such advanced screen protection, developed with Corning glass, will be produced locally and made available for both Indian and international markets,” Mr. Gupta had earlier said.

Putin, Xi Vow Joint Push Against ‘Discriminatory Sanctions’ Ahead of SCO Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Tianjin on Sunday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, where he underscored Russia and China’s united opposition to “discriminatory sanctions” that he said obstruct the socioeconomic development of BRICS member countries. In a written interview with China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, Mr. Putin said Moscow and Beijing are committed to mobilising resources for critical infrastructure projects while working together to strengthen BRICS’ ability to tackle pressing global challenges. “We take a common stand against discriminatory sanctions that hinder the socioeconomic development of BRICS members and the world at large,” Mr. Putin said. His remarks came against the backdrop of U.S. President Donald Trump threatening BRICS countries with 10% tariffs. BRICS, which originally comprised Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has recently expanded to include Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet Mr. Putin on the sidelines of the SCO summit, which runs from Sunday to Monday. Mr. Putin also stressed that Russia and China support reforms of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, while advocating a new global financial system based on “openness and true equity.” Such a system, he said, should provide equal and non-discriminatory access to financial tools for all countries and reflect the real standing of member states in the global economy. “We seek progress for the benefit of all humanity. I am confident that Russia and China will continue to work together towards this noble goal, aligning our efforts to ensure the prosperity of our great nations,” he said. During his visit, Mr. Putin will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and also attend China’s V-Day parade marking the 80th anniversary of its victory over Japan in World War II. Looking ahead, Mr. Putin expressed hope that the SCO Tianjin Summit will provide “powerful new momentum” to the 10-member bloc, enhancing its ability to address contemporary challenges and consolidate solidarity across Eurasia. “The SCO’s appeal lies in its simple but powerful principles: commitment to its founding philosophy, openness to equal cooperation, non-confrontation, and respect for the uniqueness of each nation,” he said. “Drawing on these values, the SCO contributes to shaping a fairer, multipolar world order, grounded in international law, with the central role of the United Nations.”

US Clears $825m Arms Package for Ukraine as Russia Pounds Kyiv

The United States has approved an $825 million arms package for Ukraine, including 3,350 extended-range attack munition (ERAM) missiles and advanced GPS navigation systems, in a move that comes amid fresh Russian missile barrages on Kyiv. The State Department said Thursday it had notified Congress of the deal, which also includes spares, accessories, training, and technical support. Funding will be drawn from NATO partners Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, in addition to American foreign military aid. “This sale underpins US foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening a partner committed to political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the department said. The deal follows two earlier US packages in July worth $322m (air defences, armoured vehicles) and $330m (air defence systems and artillery upkeep). Russia’s Deadly Assault on Kyiv Hours before the announcement, Russia launched one of its heaviest strikes on the Ukrainian capital in months, killing 21 people, including four children, and injuring at least 48 others. Kyiv officials reported missiles or debris hitting 33 locations across all 10 districts, damaging nearly 100 buildings, including a central shopping mall. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia used 598 drones and decoys along with 31 missiles, marking a rare large-scale strike inside central Kyiv. Rescue operations continued late into Thursday night. Diplomatic Fallout Peace Talks in Limbo President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Russia’s “choice of ballistics over negotiation,” urging tougher US sanctions. US President Donald Trump, who recently met Vladimir Putin in Alaska, expressed frustration at stalled peace efforts. He warned of “next steps within two weeks” if direct talks between Putin and Zelenskyy do not materialize. Western officials believe Moscow is delaying diplomacy while expanding battlefield control. Ukrainian commanders confirmed Russia had seized new territory in an eighth region this week. Moscow’s Justification Russia’s Defence Ministry insisted the strikes targeted Ukraine’s “military-industrial complex”, using long-range weapons including Kinzhal missiles. It also claimed to have shot down 102 Ukrainian drones overnight, while acknowledging fires at two Russian oil refineries following Ukrainian drone attacks.
