Bus Engulfed in Flames Near Ramwasa

On Tuesday, October 7, 2026, at approximately 12:15 PM, a Chief Minister's Sugham Parivahan service bus erupted in a massive fire near Ramwasa on the Ujjain-Indore route. Fortunately, quick thinking by the passengers allowed everyone to disembark safely, averting any casualties.

Witnesses reported that the incident occurred while the bus was en route from Ujjain to Indore. The bus lost control after a sudden tire burst, and smoke began to emanate from the vehicle. Within moments, the flames escalated rapidly.

Tire Burst Sparks Blaze, Passengers Evacuate Safely

The incident, which took place near Ramwasa on the Ujjain-Indore road, has raised concerns about the safety protocols of buses operating under the Chief Minister's Sugham Parivahan service. The fire, which started around 12:15 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, was averted from becoming a major tragedy due to the passengers' presence of mind.

According to eyewitness accounts, the rear tire of the moving bus suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to lose balance. Smoke began to billow from the bus immediately after the tire rupture, and the fire quickly spread. Approximately 12 to 40 passengers were on board at the time.

Panic ensued among the passengers upon seeing the flames, but thankfully, everyone remained calm and evacuated the bus in time to save their lives. No passengers sustained serious injuries, which is a significant relief.

Firefighters Swiftly Control Blaze

Upon receiving information about the incident, local authorities and the fire department responded immediately. Several fire engines arrived at the scene, and firefighters launched a coordinated effort to extinguish the blaze. After persistent efforts, the fire brigade successfully brought the fire under control.

However, a substantial portion of the bus had already been consumed by the intense fire, leaving it severely damaged.

Operator Notified, Permit Cancellation Initiated

The Ujjain Collector took immediate cognizance of this serious incident. In a stern action, a notice has been issued to the bus operator, Dilraj Manmeet Transportation Private Limited. The administration has also commenced the process to cancel the bus's permit.

It has been clarified that this bus was operating under the Chief Minister's Sugham Parivahan service through a private contract. To prevent recurrence of such incidents, the administration is emphasizing a thorough review of the quality and safety standards of transport services.
