Pilgrimage Kick-off from Mahakal City with Sarayu Water from Ayodhya
The Cliff News | Guna | October 6, 2026 A significant padyatra (foot march) from the city of Mahakal, Ujjain, to Ayodhya is set to begin on October 20, under the leadership of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh. Amidst the preparations for this journey, devotees have added a special spiritual dimension by reaching Ayodhya and filling urns with the holy water of the Sarayu River.
These Sarayu water urns, as symbols of faith and devotion, will accompany the devotees throughout the entire padyatra to Ramlala's birthplace in Ayodhya. Respected saints from Ayodhya have called upon all Sanatani dharma lovers, Ram devotees, and Shiva devotees from across the country to actively participate in this padyatra.
According to the saints, this journey offers a unique opportunity to connect Sanatan tradition, faith, and devotion. They have expressed confidence that with broad public participation, this religious journey will become even more glorious and memorable.
Significance and Preparation of the Religious Journey
This padyatra, which will commence on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra on October 20, is considered extremely important from religious and cultural perspectives. According to the organizing committee, special arrangements have been made for the devotees at various stages of the journey.
The main objective of this journey is to spread the spirit of unwavering faith and dedication towards Sanatan Dharma to every person. The organizers believe this is a major religious initiative, with special efforts being made to ensure the participation of common citizens.
Observing the enthusiasm of devotees along the padyatra route, significant excitement is evident among the people regarding the journey. This event, which includes the blessings of the saints of Ayodhya, will provide a special spiritual experience for followers of Sanatan Dharma.
The act of filling urns with Sarayu water and carrying it with the journey signifies the purity of the river and its connection to Lord Ram. This holy water will not only serve as a source of energy during the journey but will also serve to bring together various communities who share the values of Sanatan Dharma.
The padyatra will begin from the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, which is itself one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This confluence brings together devotees of both Shiva and Ram, making the journey even more sacred.
Digvijaya Singh, who has previously led similar journeys, will once again lead this one. His participation has also given the journey a political and social dimension, expected to attract broader public support.
The organizing committee also informed that local communities in small and large towns and villages along the journey route have also shown enthusiasm. They are eager to cooperate in welcoming the procession and arranging for the accommodation of the devotees.
This collective effort will not only aid in making the journey successful but will also spread a message of communal harmony and unity across the country. Discourses, Bhajan Sandhyas (devotional singing sessions), and cultural programs at various stops will further enhance the spiritual and cultural significance of the journey.
The aim of these events is not only to inspire devotees to undertake the journey physically but also to connect them with the rich heritage of Sanatan Dharma. The urn procession filled with Sarayu water, in itself, is a symbol of moving sanctity, which will keep faith alive at every step of the journey to the land of Ram.
