Illegal Register Seized at Damoh Registry Office; Collector Orders Action
Following widespread complaints of irregularities and revenue loss at the Damoh District Registry Office, District Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav conducted a surprise inspection of the office on Saturday. During the inspection, he seized an illegal token register that was being operated separately within the office premises, despite the implementation of an online system on the Shaskiya Sampada 2.0 portal.
The Collector has directed immediate legal action against this serious irregularity. It was discovered during the inspection that despite the existence of an online token system, token entries were still being made manually in a register at the registry office. This operational method indicated a lack of transparency and potential for corruption.
Collector Yadav ordered the seizure of this illegal register and instructed a thorough investigation into the matter. Emphasis has been placed on ensuring transparency and adherence to rules in the registration process.
Emphasis on Transparency and Rule Adherence in Registration Process
Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav stressed that other complaints, such as violations of rules in land transfers and the registration of residential plots as general plots, will also be closely investigated. During the inspection, a suspicious sum of money was found with a young man, raising questions about its source and his permission to be in the office.
The police will also be involved in the investigation of this matter, and stringent legal action will be taken against those found guilty based on the submitted investigation reports. The administration's primary goal is to make the registration process completely transparent and 'faceless' so that the general public does not face any inconvenience.
Information Boards Mandated at Registration Centers
To achieve this objective, the Collector has also directed that information boards clearly displaying government charges will be installed at all registry offices and related service provider centers. This will help protect citizens and farmers from any unnecessary trouble.
Strict Action Against Illegal Collection Warned
The Collector issued a clear warning to the officials and employees of the registry office that the presence or activity of any unauthorized person within the office premises will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He also appealed to the public to pay only the government-prescribed fees for registration.
Complaints of anyone demanding additional money should be filed immediately. Swift action will be taken on such complaints, moving towards strengthening the registration system in the district and making it corruption-free. Strict action as per rules is certain for employees and external individuals found guilty once the matter is exposed.
