Brutal Murder in Kurta Village
In a shocking incident in Kurta village, under the Fatehganj Paschimi police station area of Bareilly, a 45-year-old disabled man, Deepchand Saxena, was brutally murdered on Thursday night. He was reportedly strangled and then stabbed to death.
Discovery of the Body
The horrifying discovery was made on Friday morning when relatives brought tea to his room and found Deepchand's lifeless body. The scene quickly erupted into cries of anguish. Upon receiving the information, the police and forensic team arrived, inspected the crime scene, collected evidence, and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Land Dispute as Motive
According to the police, the murder is believed to stem from an old dispute over land ownership between the deceased, Deepchand, and his younger brother, Satish. Satish is reportedly mentally unwell, and his wife has also left him. Station House Officer Praveen Kumar stated that Deepchand had redeemed two bighas of land mortgaged by his father and started farming it. Satish had harbored a long-standing grudge over the division of this land and had previously made a life-threatening attack on Deepchand last year.
Suspected Involvement and Investigations
Villagers claim Deepchand, due to his disability, was involved in the illegal sale of local liquor, attracting anti-social elements to his room. The police recovered six small bottles of liquor and the rod used for strangulation from the crime scene. Acting on the suspicions of family members and villagers, the police have detained Deepchand's younger brother, Satish, along with three other individuals for questioning.
Ongoing Investigation and Security
The Circle Officer indicated that the murder mystery will be solved based on the post-mortem report and gathered evidence. A tense atmosphere prevails in the village, prompting the deployment of additional police force to maintain order.
